As some of you may already know, a patent was registered for a show called "Star Trek: Destiny" several months ago. This got me thinking, if such a show does actually get made, those who currently refer to Discovery as "STD" may want to consider a more specific abbreviation to avoid confusion.

Note: this is in no way meant to piss on anyone's choice of Discovery abbreviation (or compete with the other abbreviation thread). Just curious about this specific situation.

Also, I'd be interested to hear how you might abbreviate Destiny in the comments as well.

Discovery is DSC, Destiny is DTN; although Star Trek: Destiny/DTN will always be the novel trilogy for me, so I'll have to think of another abbreviation, should that show ever happen.

Knowing CBS, they'd probably abbreviate Destiny as DST.

I will think about it when/if it ever happens. Sounds more like a game to me..........

They just registered for the name. That doesn't mean it's going to be a show. It might be a video game for all we know.

Video games have a separate trademark category. So no, it isn't a video game.

Of course STD for the one and STI for the other!

Also, do we really need another abbreviation-thread this soon?

Not to be confused with the upcoming Captain Worf-show called "Star Trek: Defiant" (STDE) :guffaw:
