I do not like MCU films

I find their films generally boring, simplistic, having no plot very watered down for kiddies and very generic. the marvel forumla has been bad for the comic book genre. I prefer the bryan singer's xmen films or the nolan's batman films to mcu films because those films tried to move the comic genre away from been just dumb and about explosions.

i will hate for xmen to return back to marvel and see xmen fims become dumb down so that children can buy what disney is selling.

is there anyone else who hates MCU films.

I do. They are ridiculous and it's getting worse with each release. But, as long as the audience keeps pouring money in the coffers, Disney/Marvel will keep pumping out the crap. So the vast majority obviously loves them and thinks they're awesome.

I will concede that the first Iron Man film and the second Captain America were both okay, though.

the audience wont be pouring money for long., marvel declined in 2015 with ultron and ant man, I hope the decline continues. i am tired of the marvel formula crap films as well and their fans makes it worse.

Ant-Man is on pace to make a half billion dollars. It's also the lowest budget film, so it'll probably be their biggest profit of any movie. Avengers Age of Ultron is one of the highest grossing films of all time and made only slightly less than the first Avengers movie (we live in a crazy world where 1.4 Billion Dollars is a flop). Taste is subjective. You can say they suck and you don't have to watch them if you don't want to, but the numbers are objective. There was absolutely no decline in 2015.

Don't take my word for it, here's a source!

The beauty of cinema is..... You don't have to watch it. There's stuff out there for everyone. Brainy scifi or cheesy scifi, romcoms and romantic dramas. Thrillers, horror, slashers. Comedy and parody.

It's ok to not like something, but there are plenty of people that do. Yes, the plots are watered down and silly. Yes, it's all about big BOOMS! So effing what? Don't watch it if that ain't your bag. But why start a thread like this? If can understand you have this opinion, but this feels more like bashing. You even state that the fans are making it worse. So what? They love it! So let them enjoy it. And you? Don't watch it. Watch something else. Something that you like.
There is no need to start a topic like this that is basicly a bash towards a franchise and the people that like it.

Cool story, bro!

I wouldn't say I "hate" the MCU, I can't really make that claim if I continue to see every movie. However, the MCU is certainly very overrated.

Every one who isn't a fan of a certain franchise could make that claim. I know of people who really don't like Star Wars and think it's overrated. Hardcore fans would want to Force-crush those people.

^There are few Star Wars fans hardcore enough to say that every one of the films was great.

I think the Marvel films tend to have at least alright plots and characterizations but too much does feel watered-down and formulaic, especially Iron Man and the Hulk.

I guess I never understand why people expect so much of a comicbookmovie. I mean, it's a movie based on a comicbook. Are people saying comics themselves are near literatur or something?

It's all fluff. Both the comics and the movies. Just enjoy it for the simple, brainless entertainment it gives, then move on. They were never made to become the great legacy of our times you know? And if brianless entertaintment isn't your thing, don't watch it.

This.

I don't particularly care for the Fast & Furious movies, just not my thing. But I don't feel the need to make a thread stating that fact. You know what I do? I simply don't watch them or be interested in them and just get on with my life, and let those who do like them do so. Maybe you should try that.

I like the MCU movies a lot. I surprised myself and liked the Fast and Furious movies when I checked them out last year too.

I like serious sci-fi movies too, but it's all down to personal taste and preference. Case in point, I've hated almost all of the Christopher Nolan movies I've seen and I am not keen on much of Ridley Scott's stuff either. Both make well regarded films.

I love the MCU films and what they set out to do with an overarcing plot that connects them.

Some movies are better than others, that's to be expected but in a business that's very fickle Marvel movies have consistently been financially and critically successful.

They probably won't change lives or become pop culture phenomenons like Star Wars or Star Trek but they are very solid 2 hour entertaining movies.

I also think that Nolan's Batman movies are superior to most Marvel movies but that's personal taste and Marvel movies just fit a different style than Batman so it's all good.

What i really like about Marvel movies is that even with odd and not so well known characters like Ant Man or the Guardians they manage to make fantastic movies out of them, funny and entertaining and that's no small feat. They really have an excellent production and oversight team and they could go on for a long time before the public is really fed up with superheroes but i don't see that happening for a long time.

I don't understand the need of some people to wish something isn't made that other people like. Don't like it, don't watch it. Why shit on other people's fun?

I've stopped counting, really. The connections between them have gotten more and more complicated with each movie. I'm not really all that dedicated to them (or even the TV shows), as such I haven't seen all of them, but it does mean that I lose out on some of the references if I miss even just one movie. That's the downside of the MCU, and it makes it harder for someone to keep up with them or just casually enjoy. It's kind of like missing an episode of an arc-based show and trying to follow by watching the next one.

I like them all, if you don't like them, don't watch them. But then this is the forum with the massive TOS purist society that shits on anything they don't like for years, publically. So maybe that's rubbed off rather negatively on many others frequenting the forum.

I guess I never understand why people expect so much of a comicbookmovie. I mean, it's a movie based on a comicbook. Are people saying comics themselves are near literatur or something?

Some of them, at least the best ones, are pretty involving, moving and/or thought-provoking.

It's all fluff. Both the comics and the movies. Just enjoy it for the simple, brainless entertainment it gives, then move on.

If the comics were all fluff and brainless fans wouldn't either buy despite the rising prices or criticize the issues that weren't as good or keep rereading the really good ones. And if that's how either the comics or movies are seen it seems odd for a lot of viewers to give them As.

^ Right. There's nothing wrong with wanting a comic book movie to be more than fluff or simple entertainment. They can be and sometimes are.

[Edit] And that's another good point. Why would movie goers and movie makers waste so much time and effort with something they thought was fluff?
