I do not like MCU films

is there anyone else who hates MCU films.
I'm indifferent to them. Never read Marvel as a kid, and haven't seen any of the official MCU films, unless Guardians of the Galaxy counts. Though I can see the possibility of them over-saturating the film market and audiences eventually losing interest.

Love them, always will :techman:

Avengers was a pure wet dream on film :p Winter Solider & Guardians of the Galaxy are great movies even without the Marvel name attached to them. Ant-Man was a big surprise and I look forward to the rest of them though I imagine after the 2 part 3rd Avengers movie, my interest may wane a little just because of after a while everything needs a break.

I enjoyed them through the end of Phase 1 with the first "Avengers" movie. And even though "Winter Soldier" was decent, overall I'm growing very bored with the franchise. Nothing has been particularly bad, but after so many movies I just can't remain interested anymore, especially since nothing really seems to change from one movie to another.

Yeah, that is annoying and it makes it hard not to question their comitment...
That said, I love the MCU movies. Sure they aren't really the deepest movies ever, but they're fun and that's really all I care about. Not all of them have been amazing, but I have found stuff to enjoy in all of them, and I look forward to more.

I don't understand the decline comment, AoU may not have met Disney's ridiculous expectations, and Ant-Man was a big hit.
The Avengers, Winter Soldier, the first Iron Man, and Guardians of the Galaxy are some of my favorite movies of all time.

I find their films generally boring, simplistic, having no plot very watered down for kiddies and very generic. the marvel forumla has been bad for the comic book genre. I prefer the bryan singer's xmen films or the nolan's batman films to mcu films because those films tried to move the comic genre away from been just dumb and about explosions.

i will hate for xmen to return back to marvel and see xmen fims become dumb down so that children can buy what disney is selling.

Comic books aren't a genre; they're a medium for telling stories, just like novels or films.

What so many cite as a weakness, the "formulaic" quality of the films, I see as evocative of the "house style" that set Marvel apart back in the 60s.

And while I find some of the individual installments to be weaker and more forgettable than others, it's very impressive that they've been able to churn out hit after hit and maintain a consistent level of quality. Previously, series of superhero films were known for not being able to do that much for even a trilogy.

Except for Thor, I was never into the characters in the MCU as a reader. I thought the casting of Robert Downey, Jr. as Tony Stark was inspired, but it wasn't enough to make me want to see Iron Man. As it is, I've only see the Eric Bana Hulk (which I'm not sure whether or not that counts as an MCU picture) and the first Thor. I enjoyed Hulk and think it's underrated. Thor was disappointing; I had expectations for a Ken Branagh film that the film didn't come close to meeting. (For one thing, it didn't feel like a Branagh film.) I don't hate the MCU. Rather, I'm indifferent to it. It's not for me.

I hate they keep pushing back Captain Marvel. :(
Until then, you can enjoy the Big Red Cheese in the first superhero live-action film.

Despite its flaws, some impressive effects work for pre-WWII by the Lydecker brothers. The Cap takes out one guy by throwing a car engine at him, throws another guy off a building, and turns a machine gun against an army of Middle Eastern men.

exactly the marvel formula is burning out.

I don't think they're burning out at all, in a number of ways they're only getting started. And personally I've waited for years to see those characters in movies. I'm really looking forward to the Infinity War two parter.

There's still a few of the MCU films that I haven't gotten around to watching yet. Are the cinematic masterpeices no, are they the worst films Hollywood has ever made again no.

But then again perhaps I'm not expecting much from them other than a popcorn movie.

Wormhole09? That you?

Anyways, I love the MCU films. Mainly for breaking away from that whole "grounded" approach and making good movies without giving up on the wondrous Universe full of crazy stuff like Gods and Aliens and Magic and Super-Science the way X-Men did.

Nolan's films are good too, but a tad overrated IMO.

But why start a thread like this? If can understand you have this opinion, but this feels more like bashing. You even state that the fans are making it worse. So what? They love it! So let them enjoy it. And you? Don't watch it. Watch something else. Something that you like.
There is no need to start a topic like this that is basicly a bash towards a franchise and the people that like it.

He's entitled to his opinion, which is not walking MCU fans in front of the firing squad.

Yeah, I love the hell out of the MCU movies and shows. The major ones (Avengers, CA, Iron Man, Thor) I go to see in the theaters. The minor ones (GotG, AntMan) I wait for Blu-Ray. (I only consider them minor because they generally don't blip on my radar the way the others do.)

But overall, the MCU movies are fun, good popcorn romps. They're just straight up a good time. I don't follow the comic books. I just watch the movies, and enjoy them. I don't worry about "formulae" and crap like that.

I only ask one thing of any movie or show: Entertain me.

The MCU films have done thus: Ergo.... I love 'em.

Carry on.

As it is, I've only see the Eric Bana Hulk (which I'm not sure whether or not that counts as an MCU picture)

It doesn't, but at the same time, I always thought the Edward Norton Hulk film was an unofficial sequel to the Bana movie. That is, although the Norton film isn't really a sequel, it's done in a way that if you want to think of it as a continuation of the Bana film, you can. And the Norton film definitely is part of the MCU, Robert Downey Jr. has a cameo in it and William Hurt is reprising his role from the movie in the coming Captain America Civil War.

Provided you willfully ignore all the inconsistencies between them. Incredible Hulk distances itself from HULK pretty much from the first minute of the film.

what is a wormhole9. all I ask for is something more, breaking away from the grounded approach is a step backwards because its dumbs comic films again. mcu films are batman forever 2.0
