I think Titan paid them a licensing fee to use the English translations that already existed, because they had to be done as part of the CBS deal months before. But it was not enough to cover the costs of the translation and editing. Both Helga and Keith were hired and paid by Cross Cult. (Well, that's what I was told. I am only one of the authors. I don't know the specifics. )

Yes, I was hired and paid by Cross Cult. The translation that was done was good enough for licensing approval, but it was a literal translation rather than a literary one, and it needed polishing to work as a work of published fiction in English.

I wonder how long those of us in Canada will have to wait with the Canada Post mail strike. I pre-ordered months ago and Chapters usually ships by Canada Post.

Chapters is a bit of a crapshoot at the moment. Some things are still being shipped by Canada Post, others are being shipped from UPS. I have two orders with multiple items each in them, and there are things on the same order which got sent by Canada Post, and others sent by UPS.

Well I think everything is up in the air, since most companies in Canada like Chapters & Amazon have contracts with Canada Post that allow for the shipping to be so low that if you order so much at a time shipping is free. I just got a book from Chapters and something from TSC today and they both came Canada Post, although it took about a week, versus 2 or 3 days normally.
