Best team won, but I sure wish the refs hadn't snuffed out Germany's last gasp with the whistle.
As for Spain should've scored more, well Deutschland had some opportunities early that could've ended up in points.

Agreed. The strongest team in this tournament once the Netherlands ran out of gas (or some will say, accurately, were exposed for having an average defense). And Spain brushed aside almost all of the (crazy) superstitions they blamed past failures on. Well done.
Netherlands is a funny case. I mean 8 years ago they had Patrick Kluivert, Dennis Bergkamp, Marc Overmars, Edgar Davids, Jaap Stam, Frank de Boer, and Philip Cocu all at the peak of their careers. Now that is a loaded team. More talented overall on paper than this current NL XI. Amazingly enough that team didn't get to final and they had home cooking. The current NL team imo doesn't really compare especially in the back. If they've gotten past Russian they would've lost to both Spain or Italy imo.

With this pretty young squad of players, and with the monkey off their back by finally winning a tournement, can Spain have a real go at taking the big one in two years? With this boost to their confidence, I suspect Spain will be the main challengers from Europe at the 2010 World Cup.
