5.

It's Star Trek by rote -- when contemporary audiences dismiss the series, they're doing so on the back of tired clunkers like these. You won't find anything in Gamesters that wasn't done better and earlier in the show's run.

A planet of slave gladiators who simply accept "their place?" How about some dissent? We learn nothing new about the trek universe in this episode.

Another beautiful space babe, another race impressed by just how superior humans are, another fight to save the ship.....

On a positive note this episode did give rise to one of my favourite Simpsons jokes. When Homer was in training with NASA for his space flight they show a montage of his training there is a clip lasting only a few seconds of Homer fighting Barney in the Triskellion arena complete with the fight music.

"Cheekov"....and it goes downhill from there. A 2. Unfortunately the "space babe," Angelique Pettyjohn, had a very sad life with a severely handicapped child. Knowing that, despite my dislike for the ep, makes the last scene where she "will watch the stars" poignant.

- Awesome Kirk fighting
-100 Quatloos on the newcomer! classic
-Freaky makeup on the aliens
-Collars of Obedience! love when the guys' eyes light up. Love when Kirk rips his collar of obedience off!
-Great music
-Kirk really used Shawna. That punch is really something
-Cheekoof! What an drill thrall. You can see the boom mic shadow bouncing up and down on the rock wall the entire scene
-Love the fighting ring design
- How does Shat pronounce Uhura? You-hoo-ru? What the?!

10/10 Total entertainment every frame! Total '60's tacky sci-fI awesomeness

Cheeee-kov indeed. The scenes with Spock, McCoy and Scott aboard the Enterprise save this one.

Seven, albeit a shaky one.

Just one question: I don't care what planet you're on -- how can a species evolve into disembodied brains? In Day-Glo colors, yet!

A friend of mine once asked the same question--"What, did they just sit on a stump and evolve?"

Hmm? It's just cosmetic surgery - endless fun for those who can afford it.

I mean, once you have tried out all the bodies the universe has to offer, isn't it obvious that you'd want to try out the minimalist approach?

Geez I'm getting a complex as I liked this episode a lot. I still have nightmares about Tamoon

How many people there is an anti-fraud website maintained by a non-profit corporation, Financial and Tax Fraud Education Associates called quatloos.com?

I vote 7.

Things I liked were:

The action.
The only other appearance of a Kalar.
The other aliens, although they are humanoid.
I like glowing brains in neon colors. It's obvious, to me, they are artificial constructs and didn't evolve that way.
Spock and Scott tracking down the Captain.

Things I didn't like:
The whole smoochy loveydovey Jim and Shana story
