Diamond Select Ent-D problems, am I screwed?!

Hi all! I got my Ent-D around a month ago. First thing I did was replace the batteries, for the next few days I kept it close playing with it and enjoying it. All was fine. After that I put it up on the shelf to display. Today I take it back down and things are not working right. First off there is no sound when I reattach the saucer, nothing when I unattach either.

When I press the bridge, no picard, no nothing. I do have impulse lights and the light on the bottom of the saucer. The main deflector and warp engines do light up. I tried the reset bottom next the the saucer shuttle bay, nothing...

Has anyone else had this issue and is there a way to fix it? If it can't be fixed without tearing it apart/ruining it what are the chances of getting another one. Will they say too bad no exchanges. I know, I know, I should ask them that but I figured I'd try this before I go the full complaint rout.

Thanks! :(

Sorry mods, I misspelled Diamond in the title, could you please fix it?

Did you try the obvious and re-check the batteries? I've had "new" batteries not last two weeks, while old ones that were sitting in the drawer for years already are still going.

On the saucer top, aft of the bridge, there is a small hole on the port side top. Insert a pin or other small pointed object (ask Ziz about those ) press and hold for a second. This should reset the software and your ship should function correctly.

Is that supposed to be some kind of dick joke? If it is, not only is it not very good, but I'm also trying to figure out why you even bothered in the first place...what warranted it?

Re: Diamons Select Ent-D problems, am I screwed?!

As I said in my original post I tried the reset button... I'll try all new batteries tomorrow, I had no idea it would be SO fragile.

Well, sorta disappointing a mod hasn't corrected my thread title, guess it's low on their list...

Anyways... Update.

So I got all new batteries and here's what I found out... the Saucer Section is dead and can't get any power on it's own. Picard is back but only when connected, same with the impulse lights, no docking sound, period. When not connected the Saucer section is dead... looks like I'll have to contact the folks I got it from... shame. Hope they don't dick me around. :(

Thanks mods!

Well, I got an e-mail back from them today... they want to me "carefully" tear off one of the warp nacelles and mail it back to them as proof and they said they will send me another one... Even though mine is broke I still hurts the heart to have to rip off an engine... :alienblush:

Missing engine? That's perfect--you can convert what's left into a post-collision "Cause and Effect" Enterprise. :D

Fascinating... so your "proof of purchase" isn't sufficient?

What they're really saying is "render your 'bad' ship TRULY bad... so it couldn't be resold... and we'll replace it." This does make a certain degree of sense... considering how heavy the "D" ships are (I just got both of 'em today!) it's silly to mail the whole thing back just to throw it in THEIR trash. And the engine nacelle is the most obvious part to remove and send it as "proof of purchase."

And like said above, you can use what you still have as a "kitbashing" thing if you wish. Or you can dissect it, and publish your dissection photos online. I suspect, for instance, that there is a single common printed circuit board (PCB) in both versions (and that there might even be some hidden "third planned version?").

This is the case with the tricorder (Science/Medical/Geological settings, even though they've only sold the Science and Medical versions) And there's a single "solder blob" on the communicator's PCB which turns it from "regular" to "bronze" mode (meaning that the additional phrase... burnt into the chip... is activated). I found that out because I bought the "special" version and it didn't work as advertised, so I took it apart and "fixed" it. ;)

There are a LOT of messages in the "standard" version of the ship, and only a few in the "future" version. I suspect that they're all in a single chip, just like in the tricorder and communicator, and you just change a "jumper" setting to change the "version" you've got.

So... if you were to dissect your "trashed" version, we could find that out. Think of it as an opportunity! ;)

Dissection and kitbashing are on my mind now... Guess I could dissect the stardrive section and report on the details. I wouldn't touch the saucer section except to un-pretty her up a bit ala Generations post Veridian III... Anyone have more kitbashing idea with a single warp engine Galaxy class?
