Does anyone know what the name of Troi's hairstyle (c. Season 4) was? If indeed there is a name for it. I'm talking primarily in the episode Family?

Elaine was definitely first. She had that hairstyle in the early 1990s, whereas Deanna didn't sport hers 'til the 2360s.

Probably not because A) they look nothing alike and B) Troi's hair lived on the Paramount lot when they weren't shooting.

Gates McFadden's own hair was contentious in Season 1, the cause of much time wastage washing and resetting her fine, red hair to match continuity when affected by the studio lights. When she returned in Season Three, one solution was a selection of expensive, real-hair wigs.

Marina Sirtis has spoken at conventions of being jealous that Gates got all those wigs but Deanna still had a cheaper, nylon fall. To appease her, Marina finally got a real-hair fall from Season Four.

When I met Jonathan Frakes not long after Nemesis I noticed either the film had made him tear a lot out or he'd definately had some hair support for at least that one as it was a lot thinner on top.

Was Data a wig, or did they use a dye you could wash out at the end of the day? Spiner never seemed to have the jet black hair in interviews.
