DEADPOOL 2 Movie Anticipation Thread

Looks like Domino to me. The big hair is a little much but it's fine.

How does it look like Domino at all? :vulcan: I mean, like what the movie is doing or not, I can't see an argument being made that she looks even vaguely like the comic version of Domino.

Tactical gear, round tattoo surrounding the left eye. Looks like Domino to me. What, did you expect them to put her in clown makeup?

Oh yeah, because snow white skin would be so ridiculous. So Gren, blue, red, etc skin is fine, but not Domino's? Besides that, "tactical gear" is worn by about 12,000,000 people (and I wouldn't call what Domino is wearing tactical, unless an uncovered/unarmored chest is a tactical decision). So, its only a vague white blob around her eye that makes her "Doimino". Except Domino doesn't have a tattoo, its part of her skin, and its black, and her skin is white.

At this point, Domino is almost at Caliban or X3 Psylocke levels of not resembling the character. I mean, I'll forgive it in this case if she's written well, but to argue she resembles Dominio at all based off of wearing leather clothing (even comic Domino usually goes into battle fully covered, kind of like Black Widow actually) and a vaguely white blob when skin, hair, etc are all basically as wrong as possible is just bizarre, and completely wrong. This is a case of a very obviously non human looking mutant being made to just be a normal human with a bit of makeup slapped on in five minutes because of either cheapness or a finicky actor. Either way its very disappointing and probably the first big misstep. But, again, its not unforgiveable if the character is written well.

Yes, indeed, Domino's never chosen poorly when it comes to protecting her cleavage...

Vitiligo. Look it up

I have no idea what you mean by "Non human looking human" here. The comic character looks like a woman with too much goth pale makeup on. Mystique she is not.

Cheapness... finicky actor? What next? Dr Doom did 9/11?

They cast a mixed race woman and flipped the imagery so you get a white section over her eye, rather than black over white. And, for all his massive douchery, her creator Mr (those tits ain't big enough, and lose a couple of buttons whilst you're at it) Liefeld loves the casting and the look.

You seriously need to retune your hyperbole monitor. It's way outta whack bro.

Hugo - bro?

Police don't seem to exist in the Deadpool movie universe, and Deadpool can run around the city in full ninja gear and mask, so I think they could have done full make-up, like that alien woman from Star Trek Beyond. It's not like anyone is going to question it...

Showing that even the good FOX X-Men movies barely care about the source material, Deadpool 2's "Domino" has been revealed:

So, one of the most visually distinctive X-Men is now...a woman with a vaguely white patch over one eye :brickwall: To be clear, I don't care about the race of the actress cast (who gives a crap, and I'm not sure if Domino is even supposed to be caucasian because her mutation gives her a unique appearance anyway), I'm just sick of FOX movies not giving a crap about using the comic designs. Domino had a really cool design, but in the movie she's just a random woman with some stupid make up on one eye :sigh: The character could still be written well so I'll withhold judgement on whether the character will be good or not, but I'm really disappointed about the design.
yep costume is not up to par

And about the cleavage, yeah Domino's definitely had a lot of cleavage baring costumes

Deadpool is never going to be the place for sensibly covered female role models.
Agreed that wouldn't fit this series.

'Role models' can come in any form, and often contradict other role models. This Domino can be a role model for beauty or wit rather than a role model of modesty or conscientiousness.

Given this is Deadpool we are talking about, Domino has a greater chance of being a role model for Wade-displayed double-ended dildo adventures than modest or conscientiousness.

Hugo - It's about sharing an experience, not having one!

He looks amazing, it would be hard to do a better live action version of the character and, for me, makes up for the terrible look of Domino. I hope he has a big role in the movie.

He's gotta offset Deadpools white and fluffy unicorn, no?

Hugo - The abuse that poor teddy must have suffered

Cable looks great, I have to admit, I wasn't sure what to expect.

I'm just going to go there, a comics accurate Domino was pretty much out the moment they cast a black actress. In this day and age you can't cast a black person and then cover them in white makeup. Just look at how upset people got when the changed the actors' races in Cloud Atlas, or when rumors circulated that they were going to use CGI to make ScarJo look Asian in Ghost in the Shell. Even if they technically weren't changed Zazie Beetz's race, this probably would have ended up getting a similar reaction.
Looking though the pictures on the Marvel wiki, her costumes have pretty much just been one version or another of a black leather jumpsuit, so I don't really see a problem there.

Then you cast an actress who can be put in white makeup without an issue. You don't take basically THE visual element of the character and throw it away. Well, actually, the FOX X-Men movies would do that, I just used to think better of the people making Deadpool. Anyway, its not a deal breaker. I'm disappointed and it will definitely effect my opinion of the character, but as long as she's just some background character and Deadpool/Cable get most of the screen time I'll just consider it a misstep in a good movie. No movie is perfect, and hopefully Domino will be the only complete screw up of Deadpool 2. Now if she has a bigger role it could bring down my opinion of the movie a good deal, but I doubt their version of "Domino" is going to be getting more focus then the title character or Cable. It does suck that the real Domino won't be in an X-Men movie, but I've been dealing with that kind of thing in X-Men movies for years so its not a problem that I'm unfamiliar with.

Oh sorry, didn't realize that was incorrect. I always get the different terms like mixed up.
