College Football 2022

I have to believe Scott Frost is a goner at Nebraska. They lost to Georgia Southern 45 to 42. If I understand correctly his buyout goes way down if they wait until Oct 1 to fire him, but they may decide not to wait...or I wonder if he might agree to cut some sort of deal ahead of that. I don't think I can remember a hiring that seemed like such a great one, fall totally flat.

How about Appalachia State beating Texas A&M!

App State is a consistent threat. Schedule them at your own peril. We played them a few years ago and won but it was so ugly that we dropped in the polls. If you saw them last week, they should've beaten UNC too.

I thought Frost was the next big thing and I still think he would've done well if he'd gone somewhere else. I'm at the point where I think Nebraska's only hope is to get back to living rooms in Texas. They are geographically isolated and leaving the B12 put them on an island without easy access to recruits. I don't know where they can go from here. Pellini had them respectable but he was also a jerk.

Hopefully they pull Mark Stoops away. He deserves better than Kentucky... and I'm not just saying that because I'm a Tennessee fan, noooo. ;)

Gary Patterson would also be a good fit.

Oh god why am I following college football, I said I was done...

Because Josh Heupel took over a 3 win team with an offense ranked in the 120s at the start of last season and managed to not only take us bowling and field a top 10 offense in year 1 despite having a roster that was so short on scholarship players that it was closer to FCS than FBS but also have that same team knocking off the defending ACC Champs on the road and the Vols ranked #15 in the country after the first two games of this season. And maybe even more important, unlike Kiffin, Dooley, Jones, and Pruitt, you don't have to force yourself to like the guy or overlook aspects of his personality. Josh Heupel is genuinely likeable.

When UT hired Danny White from UCF to be our AD and then White hired Heupel from UCF I thought much like everyone else did - that this was such a lazy hire because White hired the coach from where he'd just left. I didn't have anything against Heupel but it just felt 'meh, here we go again... we will see a new guy in 3.' But it's turned out to be an inspired choice so far. Not only did the team way exceed expectations last year, it's already done more this year than I thought possible. If you had told me last year we'd be ranked as high as 15th this season I'd have told you that you were crazy.

Looking at our schedule we can put the BAMA and UGA games down as likely losses but everything else is at least a tossup game. For year 2 and the situation he inherited, that's unbelievable.

Will you marry me?

;)

Careful what you wish for. It is often pretty miserable being married to a Vol. Well, at least until basketball season starts! :D

I’m really sorry. I was a *bit* tipsy last night, and wanting to applaud your expert knowledge of college football.

UConn at Michigan on national TV right now. This is embarrassing. Michigan could grab random people from the crowd to play and still dominate. How did this get to be the ABC national game? Are the number of Wolverine fans across the country enough eyes to stick with the game when it gets to 55-0?
