Since my old thread hasnt' been posted in in over a year, I don't think the MOD's would want it revived:

No signs yet, but I did see something lose two weeks ago:

I saw Christmas cakes from Little Debbie. I did a double take and while they were Christmas cakes, they weren't for Christmas; it said "Christmas in July" and had Santa lunging in a beach chair, fat and shirtless.

Anybobyd seen Christmas stuff yet? In the link about, I complained about how I found Christmas items at the tail end of July/early August -- the ever encroaching Christmas!

Something was advertised on TV as Christmas in July. Some sort of shopping event I think, but I sort of zoned out.

The Hallmark channel is playing Christmas movies 24/365. It's always Christmas time on Hallmark.

Year-round Christmas stores is too excessive to me. Now, going to one a week after Halloween, or early on to plan decorations in advance, is okay.

I saw that someone started a thread about premature Christmas marketing in July, and did the same thing last year. And then they started threads complaining about pumpkin spice being everywhere when most people weren't even thinking about pumpkin spice. This person seems to be part of the very problem he claims to despise. :p;)

That reminds me of a product I saw the other day.

I hate Christmas in July. I like to enjoy each season not get way ahead like that and watch or listen to Christmas music while it is so hot outside!! NO!

I live in Australia, and have a roommate who's kind of a witch/wiccan... anyway, she celebrates 'Yule' in June because in the southern hemisphere all the celebrations are flipped. So I essentially get to experience two Christmas'
It's never not Christmas or nearly Christmas in this house.

Hubby made a stop at the local Costco last night so we could stock up on chicken.

He came home, threw the meat in the freezer and then stood in the kitchen, glaring.

"What?" I asked.

" Guess what they had at the store? Christmas candy! In September! Fucking Christmas candy! "

I LOVE Christmas...like psycho crazy love Christmas, but even *I* think it's too early. Can't we just enjoy Halloween first?

You know, we here in Germany have had Christmas candy in super markets since mid-August. It's really depressing when your birthday is three months before Christmas' Eve, and the stores start selling Christmas candy over a month before your birthday.
Especially this year that I've sworn off of sweets.

Yeah, I find Costco is particularly bad when it comes to getting things out early. Way too fricken early! Christmas decorations on sale before Halloween is even over. It's particularly garish when you see Halloween and Christmas decorations being sold in the same aisles side by side together! Walk one step, a light-up and sound motion-activated gargoyle lawn decoration, next step ohh look, a Christmas tree! Look right, some halloween costumes, look left, some Christmas candy.

I went to Lowe's the other day to look for some Halloween decorations. I saw about five inflatables on top of a shelf and a shit ton of Christmas light/inflatables/trees taking up the center aisle and three others

Also, the lawn and garden department at Walmart looks like the frigging North Pole already with Jingle Bells blasting full volume

At this rate, I expect the Valentine's cards to start coming out the middle of October

Christmas is cancelled this year
I just can't afford the outlay when I'm trying to set up a home abroad

I keep thinking about all the Christmas candy and cookies that go on sale in August/September. Won't that all be stale as hell, or go completely off by Christmas? Or just as bad--are there enough preservatives in all that crap that keep it edible for that long?

Not a terribly appetizing thought, either way. :ack:
