BUFFY Fans: Could Caleb beat Glory?

ReadyAndWilling

Fleet Captain
if it's a one on one showdown and Caleb has just merged with the First, could he deal with Glory? remember Glory doesn't have her full strength because Ben's humanity restricts her strength.

Considerin' Buffy needed the whole Scooby Gang to defeat Glory, and even then it was Giles who killed Ben, snuffin' out Glory's connection to the world, but Buffy was able to beat Caleb on her own with the right weapon, I'd say Glory would win in a fight against Caleb.

watch season 7 now and it's really underwhelming.

did anyone else think the first was a poor villain? did they always plan to bring it back from s3?

I don't think he was a poor villain, it was all in the execution. The season imploded somewhere around episode 8-9 I think and never recovered, except for the finale really.

I agree that Glory would thwack Caleb. Buffy took Caleb by herself, whereas Glory needed everyone.

I liked the First as a villain, but I wish it had been foreshadowed more throughout the rest of the show. After its appearance in "Amends" in Season 3, I had pretty much forgotten that it existed.

ok so i'm now thinking about riley. was really bad timing how he left IMO. why didn't they keep him around to help with buffy deal with the lost of her mother. maybe riley could have helped fight glory by calling in his government friends. i dunno, seemed like a big waste.

Glory would beat him, hands down! Unless he had the hammer of a God or something...

Riley wasn't brought into the show to fight bad guys. He was brought in to give Buffy a relationship with a "normal" guy.

He was also one of the most boring characters in the history of television. I couldn't believe they kept him as long as they did.

how can you say he was boring? guy was a demon fighting commando. not as interesting as a 200yr old vampire, but still, one of my favorite characters on the show. seeing him deal with glory would have been beyond awesome.

guy was a demon fighting commando.

Uh-huh, and since the whole show is about a bunch of people fighting demons, he doesn't really stand out as anything special.

I didn't watch Buffy for the fight scenes.
neither did i.

riley was special to me because he brought a real depth science fiction to the show. he was a wholesome character as well so he fit into the buffyverse perfectly.

Riley returns in Buffy Season Eight and used in a very ingenious way in my opinion. As to ReadyandWilling's original question, I believe that Glory would be able to take down Caleb. As powerful as the First is...Glory is a goddess so theoretically she would be able to come out victorious.

It's disingenious to say that Caleb was weak because Buffy could defeat him on her own disregarding that she was wielding a friggin' Slayer Superweapon.

Without that thing Caleb has thrown her around like a puppet and was very confident.. once she got it in her hands he experienced fear and backed off showing that he knew about the power of the Scythe and that she became a real adversary.

Caleb vs. Glory would have been an interesting fight.. i think they'd fight each other to a standstill and it would be pure luck who'd win barring any pre-planning for this fight and some devious trick aka doing the Batman.
