Cold Fire - why didn't Janeway force Suspiria to send them back?

Even if they had, the "fans" would still be complaining about how "Scorpion" ruined the Borg anyways.

That's a new one on me. I thought "Scorpion" was pretty well-regarded.

The audience complained that there being a single race, even just one, that could fight the Borg off like they were just another species "ruined them" forever and that no one should be immune to assimilation. And that Voyager could play any role in fighting them was a terrible idea.

Nevermind if Voyager had found some ancient alien weapon on some world the Borg didn't bother checking and used THAT to fight off the 8472, THAT would be derided as a stupid idea as well.

IE, you can't win.

Who's "the audience"? I never made that complaint.

The ones who complained that Voyager ruined the Borg. "Scorpion" is part of that, because it was the first time we saw the Borg get trashed like they were just a normal enemy.

That it was at the hands of a new alien species didn't matter. It was that it happened at all.

And they hated that Voyager played any important role in this at all and found a way to fight the 8472 aliens. Even though no one would complain if the TNG cast were the ones in their place who found some new weapon.

When Suspiria had been weakened by the toxin and placed in the containment field, Janeway was speaking from the position of strength and could easily set Voyager's return to the Alpha Quadrant as a condition of disabling the field. And since Suspiria attacked first, there woould bee nothing morally wrong in such terms. Instead, Janeway just disables the field to show that she's good. I can't speak for the crew but if I had been there and known about it, I would have thrown her out of the nearest airlock. And I'm unironically surprised that no crew member (especially from the former Maquis) had done it.

Alternatively, they could have tried to strike a deal with the new Ocampa leader after Suspiria and Tanis left. If Tuvok was able to figure out how to transport ships to immense distances using the array and shared this knowledge with the Ocampa living on the array, they would have become rich as fuck.

Seriously, the more I watch Voyager, the more I come to the conclusion that Janeway, despite all her words and apparent love to Mark, in fact doesn't give a damn about returning.
Too risky. Suspiria could have just destroyed the ship out of spite. Been a while since I saw the episode. Did Suspiria's array have the same "toss a ship across the galaxy" capabilities as the Caretaker's array?
