Best season of Star Trek ever.

TOUGH ONE! But if you really push me I would have to go for DS9 Season 6. That's when most of the battles occured!

I'm relieved. I'm usually horrified by what people choose as favorites, but here I am with the majority...
In season one of original Trek, Trek was a SF drama about the wonders and horrors out there, whereas from s2 on, "Trek" became more and more about itself and its own internal history. s1 was unapologetically, consistently adult, with SF ideas at the hearts of stories. For one year, show business kept its hands off ST, but it couldn't last, of course.

I find it rather amusing that TOS season 1 is considered the best ever. Guess we've spent 40+ years going downhill!
No, but when you consider how important the first year was on establishing the known trek universe and coupled with the fact it had some great,true science fiction(not to mention none of the soppy romance that drug down later shows) you have to admit that was the best overall. Far as the one I PERSONALLY like to watch the most it would have to be season 6 of DS9.
If I only had one day left I'd spend it with ENT S4. Tell my loved ones to switch the life-support machine off after the end credits of Terra Prime...

I'm from Croatia, and this season is on television again here. We have just seen Best of Both Worlds part 1 this Friday and tomorrow we'll see the conclusion.

must admit ent s4 was one the best though tos s1 just pips it as my fave
Surprises: As time goes on, more and more people agree with me. I had no idea orig Trek s1 would be so far ahead. For me, it's the purest SF season. To stay on the air, from s2 on, all Trek series have had to make major compromises, but they just did what they wanted in s1, and they wanted to do adult SF drama with a Twilight Zone edge to it. Star Trek became about Star Trek later... in s1, Star Trek was about science-fiction. I'd be encouraged about the new film only if they said Trek s1 was the template for it.
Wow, Next Gen is really dipping in popularity! It was so frustrating when every Trek fan seemed to laud the last few seasons above everything else....
DS9... season 6 losing to s7? I thought s7 was unpopular, and seen as the "jumping the shark" season... I always liked it.

Awesome as TOS 1 was, I think a lot of the very highest points they hit in 2, like Mirror, Mirror, TDM, etc.
TOS 1 wins this one easily, for me. It was good quality, right from the start. None of this 'It takes shows three seasons to get going' malarkey. And before you start calling me a crusty old timer, I'm 25 years old, and wasn't even born when TOS came out!
I also think very highly of TOS 2; TNG seasons 3-6; DS9 from season 4 onwards until the end of s7; the first four seasons of Voyager (I don't get the hate. Season two of VOY has some true classics like Tuvix, Meld, The Thaw, Resistance, etc); and the last two seasons of ENT.

I'm glad someone else likes Voyager season 2. I've always thought it was a very strong season indeed, with some of VOY's best ever episodes. Although I voted for TOS 1, I always thought, and still do, to this day, that Voyager really did have a 'TOSesque' feel to it, especially in its earlier seasons. It is unfairly maligned by many on this BBS, and I still think early era VOY is closer to the ideals of TOS than ENT was.
Well, I for one voted for TNG Season 6... one of two people who did, I guess.
I'm sorry, but I still do, and always will, love TNG.
But DS9 4, 5, 6, TOS 1, and Enterprise 3 are also strong contenders.
