It's yarn season, and I've been on a Christmas gift-making spree! Here is a thread for my fellow artists and craftists to share your works, whatever they may be. Jewelry? Knitting? Painting? Cake decorating? Sewing? Model Building? Carpentry? Pottery? Show us your skillz.

They opened a Michael's in Manhattan last year, just a couple blocks from my work, and life will never be the same again. On Saturday I bought some yarn and this weekend I crocheted a baby blanket for my newest nephew's Christmas gift. He'll be about three months old at Christmas.

I'm very happy with how it turned out, and I am thrilled I have so much rainbow yarn leftover. I adore it and might use the rest to make something for myself:

Very nice blanket TSQ. I love Michael's and it's where I get most of my yarn for my various knitting projects. I've only been knitting a little over a year but I really enjoy it. I've made several scarves, am nearing the completion of a sweater and have other projects in my brain. I want to knit socks so much but I'm not sure I have the patience... The reason I got into knitting was to make an accurate replica of the Fourth Doctor's scarf from Doctor Who. I remember watching reruns on PBS and like so many fell in love with that scarf. I've actually made 4 of them at this point. Two for myself and two as gifts including a child sized one.

Try imgur.com. It's free and has a nice simple interface without all the clutter that's taken over sites like Flickr and Photobucket.

I can't get photos to load in Photobucket's editor. I used to use the photo editor to resize my photos so they wouldn't be too large to post here.


I ended up having to resize this photo before uploading it. It is a picture I coloured a couple of weeks ago. I am just beginning to learn to do skin tones.

Thanks! The third one is my favorite as well, just because of the colors. I had bought those rainbow sheets and then looked at each one, thinking what picture would fit most for them, and somehow I got the idea for this particular scene with the Bremen town musicants.

I apologize Miss Chicken, I was so eager to post mine that I did not even comment on yours.

I was wondering what you use for coloring. Colored pencils? Or markers? That picture is kinda mesmerizing, and I like the colors you chose. Especially the different shades of red. Red is my favorite color (although a darker one, ruby. I have a lot of clothes in that color, as well as my umbrella, sandals, watch and glasses LOL)

I mainly use pencils. My favourite brands are Lyra Rembrandts Polycolors, Marco Raffines and Bruynzeel Sakura.

I also like gel pens, but I only occasionally use markers or crayons.

I highly recommend knitting. I understand crocheting is faster and easier though. Knitting isn't hard at all however and the basics can be picked up watching a few short YouTube videos. That's how I learned and making something as simple as a scarf is a good project to sharpen your skills. If you do try it, understand it will take several inches of your work to start getting an even, not too tight stitch. When I started I knit VERY tightly but it loosened up considerably after about 10 inches into a respectable and even stitch. And if you're watching Doctor Who you may as well knit a proper scarf anyway! I will post pictures of my most recent one posthaste.

A couple shots of my recently finished Fourth Doctor Scarf. I need to trim the tassels some and stop looking so grumpy. It's my default picture face.

Here is a picture I finished yesterday. The picture came from the Art Therapy Collection magazine. i decided to do it with the pencils that come with the magazine. I have only received 7 issues so far so I had a limited range of colours to choose from the blue and turquoise of the bird is more noticeably different from the background than it seems to be in the photo.
