I'm with you.
When I first joined Star Trek fandom in early 1980, I couldn't believe there were some fans of TOS who'd only only seen TMP once. One friend (who was at the Smithsonian premiere), was taken back to cinemas screening TMP several times, and would sit through Kirk's arrival on the bridge, then she'd excuse herself and leave. But, even hating the concept of TMP as much as she did, she still saw it through once.
