Are you Going to See it On Christmas Day

As my family grows older, the holidays become even more precious. So, no, I won't be there on Christmas, but I'll be first in line on the 26th.

Sadly, its scheduled to come out on the 26th over here so Ill be seeing it then, first screening. Cant wait.

Nope. Ever since I turned seventeen I made it a point of personal honor to celebrate the hatchday of some camel-fucking desert mythomaniac with a couple of hookers and a few grams of Bolivian. J.J. Abrams' inversion of TOS is the last thing in this spacetime manifold that could possibly derail my plans vis-à-vis Xmas 2008.

I will be there! However do we really think that Paramount wont bump this up a couple of days? I bet that the producers decide to release it on December 22. Spider-Man 3, Pirates of the Carribean at Worlds End, and Transformers all moved their released dates up this year. Those three films ended up making over 100 mil.

Yes, like I said, I predict that it'll be moved up to some time earlier in the month, if only because it's very atypical of the type of movie that gets released on Christmas Day.

I am SO going on Christmas Day. That is, if they show it on Christmas Day in Belgium. I will be with friends and we will all wear uniforms :D That will be captain dress uniform for me (TNG era).

I'll be there on Christmas day unless we end up visiting with relatives.

Yep, and I'll take my wife and kids, who'll be ecstatic. I'm hoping for a midnight showing at 12:01 on Christmas morning at an IMAX theatre.

I don't plan on seeing it in theaters unless the hype is so good it is raved as the best trek movie ever.

Nope and I probably won't see it at all.

I don't understand why you would say that and be on this forum, let alone this site. If you're making a joke, I guess I'm slow on the uptake. If not, why are you wasting your time here? If you are a fan, why would you write it off before it's even been completely cast? Not one frame has been shot so there's no film to hate (or love). I'd hate to think you're relying on the opinions and rumors of others on a project that has barely begun and is still in pre-production. And if you are a Trek fan, and apparently you are because you're reading this, why would you dismiss this effort without even seeing it and potentially deprive yourself of some great entertainment? Perhaps you're trolling. I've never quite understood the pleasure those who do derive from it. Maybe not, though.

Maybe you're just angry or disappointed in the direction Paramount has taken with this and other recent projects. I'll admit that I would rather see a cable TV miniseries about the 24th century shows than a prequel. However, I will at minimum see the next movie once and form my own informed opinion. If I like it, I'll go back to the theatre a few more times. If not, I won't, but I'm going to give JJA a chance. I'm going in with an open, yet hopeful mind. Is that one of the tennets of GR's Trek? That's what I got out of the various itterations.

So to take what you said to its logical conclusion, are you saying you would probably never see any Star Trek movies in a theater? (except maybe TWoK)

I've always felt that you haven't really seen an [action/adventure] movie -- as it was meant to be presented -- until you've seen it in a theater.

Christmas Day? Probably not, as I have a little baby daughter and other family things going on. I wouldn't bet against me seeing it the next day, though.
