All things RED Dwarf

What do you mean you killed him, cha cha chaa?!

We don't LIKE muffins around here! We want no muffins, no toast, no teacakes, no buns, baps, baguettes or bagels, no croissants, no crumpets, no pancakes, no potato cakes and no hot-cross buns and DEFINITELY no smegging flapjacks!

I'm not sure how you would toast a flapjack  Toasted crumpets are amazing.

I'm struggling a bit to pick a favourite episode. I love the scene in "Epideme" where Kochanski uses a decoy arm to lure the virus. I love "but the donut diner hats were supposed to be green". The guitar scene in "Psirens" is brilliant.

i havent watched old Red Dwarf since i was in high school back in 1996. Funny british sci fi show that was on PBS at the time.

Is that show even out for DVD and/or blu ray these days?

Justify your existence
I have bought joy to the world because I have such a beautiful ass
That’s it?
You need more?!
Some may say that’s a pretty shallow argument
Some may say I’m a pretty shallow guy. But a shallow guy with a beautiful ass.
Sometimes you astound even me
Thank you

The most recent series, series 12, aired in 2020, and there are rumblings that the show will return eventually.

DVDs will soon be replaced by video tape, because you can't lose a cassette tape down the back of a sofa, so be careful what you wish for.

The movie "Promised Land" was the 2020 release, after series 12 (2017). It finally showed us one of the groups of cats.

As far as future releases, there's some legal issues between Grant & Naylor now, so that makes it iffy.

Though from series 1 to series 12, this was a nice bookend.

More accurately, there’s legal issues between Doug Naylor and Grant Naylor, the company via the other owners/directors of the company. Of which Rob Grant is one. It’s not as simple just Naylor v Grant.

Is there a real person named Gordon Bennett? Or did they just make that up?
"Gordon Bennett" is an English-language idiomatic phrase used to express surprise, contempt, outrage, disgust, or frustration.

The expression is thought to derive from the controversial reputation of James Gordon Bennett Jr. (1841–1918), son of Scottish-born James Gordon Bennett Sr. founder and publisher of the New York Herald. Bennett was an accomplished polo player, tennis player and yachtsman.

Another one of those mysteries of life I reckon.

Ah. I see.

RD had a whole lot of made-up swear words, I thought "Gordon Bennett" was just another example of that.

"Smeg", however, is quite obviously NOT made up. I think we all know where THAT came from... ;)
