A Constantine Series Is in Development

I can see why they might make that call, but I think it is the wrong one. They almost had a Doctor/Companion dynamic going there in the pilot and it would have been good to build on that. By not having that kind of audience surrogate I am skeptical of their ability to appeal to the broad audience necessary to last.

That's a shame. I liked what we saw of her in the trailer, I was a fan of the BBC Robin Hood series from 2006, so I was looking forward to seeing her in this.

She was fine.

I find Lucy more attractive as an English woman than an American.

You have to wonder why they didn't just pretend that the thing is set in England and have all the extras fake British accents, if they wanted to get the full score from the talent they're paying for.

They're probably afraid it would scare off the American audience. It's stupid I know, but that tends to be he way TV/movie execs think these days.

Network execs are still living in the 1960s. I'm pretty sure of it.

I wish network television would die the death it so richly deserves already. This sluggish pace they're taking is annoying as all fuck.

To be honest, I'm not sure why anyone watching a show about a guy with mystical knowledge who damned the soul of a young girl to hell (unintentionally of course) and is now fighting demons while being blackmailed by angels would fucking care about how the characters speak.

What's the logic?
"Oh no, The show about magic and demons and whatnot has people speaking ENGLISH with a British accent and not an American one... Well fuck THAT. Let's watch Pawn Stars instead."

I keep thinking one day they'll get a clue, but apparently the system will have to fail before that actually happens.

I hope we get to see him as The Spectre. By that I mean as a form of the comic version, a powerful spirit of vengeance with ghostly skin and a green cloak. The specific design doesn't have to be an exact copy of the comic version, but I'd still like to see The Spectre in his ghost form punishing some evil doers.

Yeah. My only exposure to The Specter so far has been in the DC Showcase short, but that was one of the best of the series, and he seems like a character who would be really cool to see in live action.
Did pre-New 52 Zatanna and Constantine have any connection to each other? I've been wondering if she is going to pop up eventually. If it weren't for the fact that she was a new character who has already been written out, I could have almost seen Lucy Griffiths as Zee.

No, they weren't connected as far as I know. They never should have been connected, honestly, especially as bad as the New 52 did it (they met because Zatanna was literally a magical dancer and/or stripper in a magic based club Constantine went to :cardie: ). Hopefully she won't show up in Constantine, especially if they are using the New 52 comics as inspiration. She was ok in Smallville, but they didn't really get her right there, either. But if she has to be used by any of the shows, I wouldn't want her tied to Constantine outside of the bad comics.

Constantine and Zatanna did have a relationship prior to the New 52. He appears as her lover in Zatanna's Secret Origins. She's appeared in Hellblazer, too.

Well, I never said that they didn't interact pre New 52. I meant that they weren't tightly connected, when someone thought about Zatanna they didn't automatically think of Constantine and vice-versa (generally speaking). Its like how Cyborg was actually in the last Justice League of America run before the reboot, but he wasn't really connected with the league until the reboot. In the New 52, both Zatanna and Constantine have a lot of connected backstory, which they definitely didn't have pre-reboot.
