A Constantine Series Is in Development

Here's the trailer again, but only for those in the United States:

I never saw the film or read the comic, but I thought the trailer was pretty impressive and I'm rather surprised that this is on NBC.

I noticed Jeremy Davies in the trailer. Is he a series regular or just a one-off guest star?

After everything I've heard about Hannibal, I'm not longer surprised by what NBC airs. (I mean this in a good way).
Coming at this as someone only knows John Constantine from the first JLDark TPB, this looks pretty cool. This also makes me really want to check out some of the Vertigo Hellblazer comics. I love this kind of stuff.

When did Castiel get an accent and personality?

Seriously though, trailer looks promising. I like that the look isn't overly dark or muddy, they seem to be allowing a bit of comic book influence without going too cheesy. The lead isn't quite what I pictured from the few comics I read (purely subjective of course) but seems to have potential. If I could tolerate Keanu I don't see why not to give this a shot.

Good looking trailer. I liked it.

Suffice it to say, I probably won't be watching it Friday night at 10pm though. I'll probably be watching it on a few days delay.

Cool. I've always like Dr. Fate a lot so hopefully more than just his helmet appears. I'd like to see other mystical DC characters like Zatanna, Spectre and Phantom Stranger show up.

It would be cool to see characters like Zatanna, as long as she's not based off her New 52/Justice LEague dark version. Have her appear as a cool stage magician with real powers, not a goth dressing former love interest of Constantine. I don't see them using her or more superhero-y characters, though. I bet even Fate's helmet will just be an artifact. Still, it would be cool to see them use some of DC Comic's cool mystical characters.

I love Constantine, but so far these commercials just aren't doing anything for me.

I think it's because they're just not capturing the quiet desperation and hopelessness he has about him. Instead, he's a little too jokey and jovial, but not in an appropriate morbid or macabre sort of way. At least not enough of such a way. :(

I don't know anything about Constantine besides the movie which (with the exception of Peter Stormare) was terrible, these trailers have me intrigued.

Editing needs some work, or at least a few extra scenes to help put a point on the major beats. Some of the dialogue is frustrating in how unnatural and blatant the exposition is. It isn't exactly Hellblazer, but it is pretty entertaining. As a pilot it does what it needs to do, but some reshoots wouldn't go amiss to make it a better first episode.

Lucy Griffiths Exits NBC Drama

True Blood alum Lucy Griffiths has exited the network's adaptation of
Hellblazer after the show's creators opted to move in a different
direction, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

NBC will not recast the role but instead add the character of Zed, a
familiar name from the Constantine books. That character, a foil for
the show's title character who becomes his right-hand woman, has not
yet been cast.
