Ugh, why must people fall for this pathetic rumour? Surely everybody knows that the world will end on 22nd of August 5012. According to the ancient scriptures by the Aboriginals, a dark image descends on the world at the day of Exile. Those who have read on their history (if not, I suggest Googling it asap) will know that the day of Exile was every four years, sometime in August. For example, last year there was a lot of showers around August throughout the world around the 22nd of August. Scientists have proved that it will be 5012:

It is not 100% that the world will end then, however there is evidence, such as the Colden Stone, which does give evidence towards this theory

As you can see, the day of Exile won't occur for a long time, at least for another three thousand or something years. So maybe the Mayans were off by a few thousand years?

You've all got it wrong. When they say, "the world will end in 2012", they don't mean "in the year 2012", they mean 2012 will be the form of its destruction. It's like saying "the world will end in fire".

Someone's going to build a giant piece of art in the shape of the letters "2012" and it will topple over and cause a devestating series of tsunamis or something. Or a mutant virus designated "Sample 2012" will be released and kill us all.
