Simon and Schuster have finally released a blurb for John Jackson Miller's Titan ebook, Absent Enemies:

In case anyone's curious - Garadius IV was referenced in "The Next Phase" (the one where Geordi and Ro become invisible) as the destination the Enterprise was trying to reach, but we didn't actually see it on screen.

Lol, this is actually exactly why I opened the thread. :p I know I could have searched on Memory Alpha, but there's often some discussion and analysis here, and it's fun to see the crowd-sourced results. :)

The blurb is intriguing, though. I wonder if "The Next Phase" is indeed the episode that will be followed up on, or if the prior speculation about the aliens from "Schisms" is more on the money...

I don't think it's about following up on "The Next Phase" itself, since Garadius was unconnected to the Romulan stuff that drove that episode. It sounds to me like it's more about doing something I've sometimes wanted to do: filling in the gaps, picking up on those numerous references in TNG to a mission the Enterprise was en route to or had just finished, and explaining what happened in that unseen mission.

Of course, I'd like to think that most of those unchronicled missions were routine; after all, some missions would have to be, and there'd need to be some downtime between crises or everyone would be run ragged within months. But the occasional one could spawn a new story.
 
Although this sounds interesting, I truly hope that the Titan is able to go back to exploring. The coolest Titan books are the ones where they discover a new planet, culture, species or some combination thereof.
 
Ooh, Aventine! Loving it already; that crew definitely needs some more screentime.
 
Thanks! There's other familiar faces in there, too. Still at least a year away from release, but I'm really looking seeing it out there.
 
A little off topic but when reading the link I was a bit surprised by who the editor is. I guess I've been out of it for awhile but Margret Clark is back as Star Trek lit editor? When did this happen though I'm extremely pleased to see her overseeing the book line? Would really love to see Marco Palmieri back. :techman:
 
^Margaret is working on the Trek novels on a freelance basis. As for Marco, he's happily ensconced at Tor Books now, editing original fantasy and SF.

She talked about her work to us on Literary Treks last week.
 
It's worth keeping in mind that it is a e-book novella, so there is a chance that it isn't going to be the same kind of story as the rest of the post-The Fall Titan novels.
