Star Trek: Infinite Space

Yeah the Defiant sounded weird- must have had a new engine installed.

I'm a bit confused about what sort of game it is supposed to be. If it's more strategy-level then great, I'm excited. If it's just Starship battles, well, uhm... hasn't STO kind of got that covered?

You can sign up for the beta on the Infinity Space website, but if you are chosen you will have to send them a copy of your passport or drivers license.

I signed up for the beta awhile back, and their signup was missing some important things. They didn't have Canada in the list of countries, and I couldn't choose Cable as my connection speed (only from a list of DSL and ISDN choices). It was quite an odd signup form leaving out some key info.

OK FIRST OFF, Owain, is your avatar you, your GF/wife or an actress because she is lovely! ;)

And second, I want to also sign up for this, sounds like a cool game!

Oh, I only wish she was, Rook! She's actually in fact Canadian actress Erin Karpluk. She currently stars in the Canadian TV show, Being Erica which can be seen on Soapnet in the US. And I agree. She's quite lovely :)

Just more precise info and history of how this came to be.

Gameforge & keen Games - Star Trek Infinite Space - New MMO Game To Debut Summer 2011

Seems Gameforge announced last September that they have teamed up with developer keen games and negotiated with CBS to launch a free-to-play casual browser-based Star Trek MMO in the summer of 2011.

Star Trek - Infinite Space will be set in the Deep Space Nine timeline and will feature the input of expert Star Trek consultants Denise and Michael Okuda.

Seems that this casual free-to-play game will provide a vastly different gameplay experience from Star Trek Online.

Will you check out the game once it launches?

What are your thoughts on the Deep Space Nine setting.
