Civilian Space Travel

If they're planning on using a mars-cycler type system with long flight times , it might make sense.

Elmo hasn't shown much interest in nuclear thermal rockets, which is a pity. it would get his Mars colony transition there fast enough they wouldn't need to worry about weightlessness

Elmo is too busy having fun ruining social media

I love Stoke in bringing back hydrogen…it looks like they might have help in some respects:

The 3D printed Aluminum nozzle tested at MSFC would be a good choice…not so much for Stoke (plug nozzle) as for other firms.

latest New Shep flight. 10 second countdown starts around 25:50
nice to see it running again.

Some performance shortfall of Starship…50 ton payload as-is…so a stretch.

Starship’s empty weight is 220,000 pounds or so. SLS core block comes in at 188,000 empty.

I wonder…if air-start RS-25s could be had…maybe a one off SuperHeavy with solids…might an SLS make it all the way to the Moon?

Soft land horizontally, and refuel there with ISRU, as opposed to endless tanker flights with standard Starship—that can come later.

Perhaps this find will ease interplanetary travel a bit:

At this point, you have close to empty tankage…hypergolic placements…a one time deal. Popcorning foam not an issue here.

Bury with regolith.

If nothing else, maybe the SRB-X concept with a modded Falcon Heavy center core instead of the third air-start SRB.

That might get you a one-shot Mars Sample Return.

I just want Old Space and New Space to work together.

A dark day
