Civilian Space Travel

SpaceX actual delivers, at least. I don't understand Bezos at all.

In terms of something that will make you sick:
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...p-costing-1-2BILLION-sold-scrap-set-sail.html

Now I only mention that here in that the shipyard that made this thing is indoors--which might be perfect for Sea Dragon

Compared to a ship--or even a submarine, Sea Dragon should be a cinch---in case Bezos is listening. The indoor shipyard here just look into it ;)

Seems like a truly unscheduled test of the escape system. Though it didn't look like the retro thrust system actually did anything.

"we experienced an anomaly but this was unplanned" - um no shit - they are by their very nature unplanned.

Looked at several articles and there's no mention of what happened to the booster - whether it exploded, headed to space or crashed into the desert.

They did test recovery with a parachute but then developed the vertical landing approach as with spaceX but if the engines were mis-firing that wouldn't have been possible.

Very sad.

Let me know when they have an actual test flight or demo and not a glossy video.
I mean that video looks fantastic and all and amazing they can land with one parachute like that and balloon cushions but have they actually had any test flights or prototypes?

Did you just watch the video but not explore the site?

I have to admit I only looked at the video which was very polished and well made. I was going to go back later and look more. I see lots of proposed launch locations including The Great Barrier Reef but it seems very quiet over here with no local coverage of this.

Not another Branson….sigh

Well one would hope not, but whenever I see a flashy website and claims of something that will happen when it's not reported here in our own local media yeah you could say it's time to be a tiny bit skeptical. They mentioned local launch sites here in the Barrier Reef that got me more curious because there was no mention here about this in our local media.

"A GoFundMe page, said to be set up by Cabada's sister-in-law, says Cabada's wife and children have struggled financially because he was the "primary breadwinner." More than $51,000 has been raised and the page shows hundreds of donations from people who work at SpaceX."

Excuse me....a GoFundMe page?

Really, Elon?

It isn’t even so much Elon I am angry at—-but the individuals who gave rise to New Spacer thinking, like the author of this screed:
