Lower Decks Trailer Analysis

You obviously do care, a great deal. Or else you wouldn't be all "I'm gonna pull out muh spreadsheet and prove the show is objectively liked!!!"

CBS doesn't care if I like what they are producing or not, they care about me subscribing. Which I continue to do because my Mother-in-Law gets a great deal of entertainment she likes from the service.

I've never watched a Midnight's Edge video. I'm comfortable enough with my own opinions that I don't need people to reinforce them.
I could care less what you enjoy in your spare time or not, it's the gatekeeping and telling other fans what they shouldn't watch and what is real, quality Star Trek. How about letting fans judge the quality without listening to the 5%?

I got news for you, while CBSAA does want to tout subscribers they already made their profit from Amazon and Netflix, so your subscription is just gravy. CBS International also used the Parrot numbers to set their rates for the shows now, so the spectacular popularity of both shows in these ratings (BOTH STILL in the top 20) means more $ for them. I just love telling the naysayers this fact.

What gatekeeping? Show where I've told people they shouldn't watch the shows or where I said they weren't "Star Trek". As a matter-of-fact, I've been highly complimentary of Lower Decks since seeing the trailer and scene.

Yeah, I've never seen BillJ gatekeep here once.

Though side note on ratings, I noticed that most of the Episode Polls over on EAS for DSC Season 1 were mostly 7 or above.

I didn't keep track of the polls for Season 2 or Picard.

So you can reply with your horseshit elsewhere.
Kindly stop being so condescending and stop thinking that you speak for all Trek fans.
Your knee jerk, immature reaction changes nothing at all.
Admit it, you just are desperate to sound smart, so you take what agrees with your theories and discard the rest. It has been your MO during your time here.
Alright, stop it with the personal attacks, guys! Discuss like grown-ups or don't post at all. No-one wants to read this silly back-and-forth of yours. So stop it, or I will have to stop you.

Also, 'tis the Lower Decks forum, not Discovery. We want our own trench wars; we don't need the old ones from the forums higher up. ;):p So please keep the discussion focussed on Lower Decks. Thank you.

What gatekeeping?

The fallacy you keep repeating is that fans don't like these new Trek shows because they won't give it a chance or don't like the idea of New Trek. When in reality, fans that have problems with the show have them because of quality and production reasons.

I don't doubt a lot of people like the shows, but that doesn't mean one is obligated to like it. I think both shows have a lot of great pieces, yet somehow come out lesser than the whole.

I just thought it was ironic considering how much the main author of that website disliked Season 1, that his audience liked it more than he did.

Is that the Bernd Schneider website? Been a while. If it is, James Dixon probably likes it more than he does.

But bringing it back to Lower Decks. 11 more days!
About that, do we know when and where it'll be available in Europe? I'd really like to watch it, but I feel like my enthusiasm may shrink a lot, if I only get to see it months after everyone else and the novelty has worn off, like with The Mandalorian.

As far as I know, there is no European distributor or release information yet.

I really hope they'll announce something this coming week. Fingers crossed.

I was just farting around Google and there is no new information on when Lower Decks will be available there. Unless there's a surprise announcement, it doesn't look like you'll be getting it on August 6th.

Lower Decks sucks, everyone who watches it isn't a real Trek fan.

Better?
This much seems to be the case

If people are going to be critical of Lower Decks then at least watch a full episode first.

It would nice to know that those critical come from a place of love rather that just negativity.

Shit. If he's worse than James Dixon, then Bernd Schneider sounds pretty scary.

Anyway, my criteria for Lower Decks is: how much I did enjoy it and how effectively did it do what it set out to do? I'm not expecting "City on the Edge of Forever", The Wrath of Khan, or "The Best of Both Worlds". But I am hoping for something that can give "The Trouble With Edward" a run for its money in entertainment value.

Is anyone being negative about the show itself? I personally think the main woman character couldn't have been more annoying in that clip they released, but other than that I'll happily give it a chance.
