the complaints I see so far from the people who disliked DSC and Picard, is that it's childish and a cartoon. That starfleet characters would never act like that.

If Starfleet characters would never act like that then unfortunately that's a rather sad commentary on how Starfleet officers actually act, which could be fairly stiff, unprofessional or just downright unrelatable, not like people.

It's funny to me, not to drag another topic in here, but I mentioned that I found the idea of Geordi being with Leah Brahms and showing up in PIC would be creepy given how the relationship as presented. And I just reviewed the transcript is so illustrative of unprofessional behavior and that Geordi is somehow in the right. That's how Starfleet officers should act? O_o

Sometimes I read reviews and sometimes I don't. Really depends on my mood. Granted most of the Youtubers in question I would not trust at all. Thing is sometimes they might even be right in away because stuff can be really preachy with bad writing. That's always the risk of tv shows or movies when they try to tackle politics or social issues. That's always been the case. Half of the people who disliked TNG seemed to be because of Picard getting up on his soapbox and solving things with a speech. I just get tired of them using the same old arguments. They complain about wokeness or bad diversity but they never have anything actually interesting to say. It's like they are reading from the same talking points script.

Even though it is playing into the TNG nostalgia, I hope we see some new ship designs for existing species, and also new ships for new species

I think it would make for an epic joke if we get a new species flying around in that triangle ship everyone used on TNG.

It's pretty amazing. For a show that I felt might get a couple of million views and moderate interest (with some positive media reaction, though nothing really special) Lower Decks interest has been astounding. The 2 main source videos are almost at 30 million views now and still climbing.

I don't trust YT with Star Trek at all at this point. It's unfortunate, but that well has been poisoned substantially.
