Women in leadership roles

Women are winning.

Two Muslim women have been elected to Congress, to follow in the path of the many women elected to leadership positions in other countries. The leadership of both women will be an inspiration to women and young girls around the world and will show that if your heart and will are in the correct place then you can become a leader and do anything in life.

Please share your inspirational stories or hopes and goals for women gaining further leadership roles around the world in the future.

Two Muslim women have been elected to Congress by the Democrats. The leadership of both women will show women and young girls around the world that it doesn't matter if you are Muslim or a female. If your heart and will is in the correct place then you can become a leader and do anything in life.
You will never see such leadership from the GOP, let alone Russia, China or North Korea.

That's brilliant.

All America needs to do is elect a woman to high office, just like numerous countries around the world.

The current leader of the "Free World" Angela Merkel is a woman.

I'm not sure I'd say "winning" as such, for one it implies a conflict where none need exist, but assuming you mean "winning their rights" and not "winning against men" then ok, progress has been happening sporadically and slowly for a long time, but is frequently beset by setbacks, intolerance, foot dragging and male protectionism, seem fair?

It will happen if people support Elizebeth Warren.

And it could have happened in 2008 (although Obama was a rather good President) or 2016, Hilary would have been far better than what thing is "sitting" in the White House now.

Clinton never stood a chance IMO. To much baggage from Bill to the corruption which is overplayed because most of them are guilty of it but not all of them have been in the spotlight since the 90's. Plus she doesn't have a warm or compelling personality which shouldn't matter but it does. She also doesn't have a issue that defies her. Obama had health care and Sanders has the whole going after the rich and 1%. Maybe foreign policy which might have mattered in 2008 when people still cared we were in Iraq but of course in 2008 she hadn't become Secretary of State, yet.

I agree she would have been better but I wonder if she would have gotten a second term. The Supreme Court would not be what it is about to become but Health Care and Income Disparity would still be a issue that isn't getting solved because they will never be solved because they are to big now and with very few people in power who really care about it and also their would be no #MeToo because much of that came from Trump being a sexual creep.

I also wonder what Trump Tv would be doing and what kind of influence that would be having on the culture. Hell if Russia wanted him power I am guessing they would be trying to move Heaven and Earth to make sure he gets elected in 2020. I doubt they would give up that easy. Also with Clinton in power and Sanders defeated and made unimportant I am guessing the more liberal party of the party would not exactly be all that happy and so the Democrat party would still be splintered. The Alt RIght would still be seen as the Tea Party but at least they also would not feel as empowered but that would just be replaced by feeling more like victims so they could be just as dangerous. I still think a Civil War is going to happen and it is kind of destined to happen and whoever won in 2016 isn't going to change that because the internet is like pooring gasoline on a fire when it comes to the culture war at this point so the internet would not be any less toxic.

Not a Secretary of State but what about Janet Reno? Only problem is she is associated to much with both Waco and Elian Gonzales so I am not sure she is seen as a positive role model.

Interesting though. A topic about women leaders is still overshadowed by discussion of a male President. He has the power to do that which says a lot about how much focus we have on women.

I have a very important question to ask. Is the squatting line a reference to Trump having toilet paper on his shoe? I hope so because I always enjoy that rare subtle toilet humor because toilet humor is very rarely, subtle.:)

That is a definite point and one worth considering. Is it the fact he is male that allows him to dominate the discussion? Is it the fact he is so unsuited to the role where a more experienced woman was his rival? Is it the fact that he is such anathema to the ideal of equality we're discussing?

Trump has a habit of being the focus of attention no matter what the context and that's part of his formula for "success".

I'm curious how no one has yet noticed the prominence of @T'Boo as our grand poobah/fuhrer/empress/first amongst equals :)

Oh, @Jayson1, if I were being that subtle, would I tell you?
