Described as a synthetic-human hybrid. Borg origin story, anyone? Or leave well enough alone? I'd like to find out more about this character, especially given she's on board the Discovery, where all kinds of weird, Frankensteinian things are going on. The actress is Sara Mitich, and as Patrick Starr might say, "She's purty, Spongebob..." Could be an interesting story angle, at any rate.

I'm all for tapping into the vest nebula that is Star Trek lore, but I'd rather Airiam have nothing to do with the Borg. Honestly, um, I've always been a big fan of the Borg being from Far, Far Elsewhere, and...
I know Destiny's a great trilogy but I've never been too keen on the origin story presented therein.

That killed me on that whole thing and how they killed em off. I had no interest in those books after that.

Too early for borg. She could be from a human colony that went full on transhuman or another cybernetic culture. We do not yet know.

Never go full on transhuman! :p Maybe some kind of Borg progenitor... or distant cousin... but then a novel idea would be better.

Nothing to do with the borg. We know human colonies went all kinds of ways, including full on cloning. We know of at lest one canon cybernetic race and a few other non canon ones. There are so many coll ways to go with this other than placing a kinda borg in an era it does not belong.

Yes, you're right. Might make for an interesting origin story... Although frozen Borg did appear on Enterprise. Better to leave that alone.

Borg origin story, anyone?

I almost want them to make Airiam a borg just to watch the haters heads explode.

We've seen a few humans with cybernetic augmentations to replace damaged organs like Lt. Detmer. Maybe Airiam was severely injured and had to be robocop'd?

Airiam is what Decker/Ilia became in TMP. How she ended up serving aboard the USS Discovery in 2256 is classified. ;)

It's already been established that the Borg existed long before this.
