Thank you for the pictures, videos and encouragement, everyone. I'm trying to stay positive.

NG, that is the sweetest kitty video ever!

What's even more hilarious is that I took that picture in the attic of my Mother's old house. That gives you some idea of what my family is like. :rommie:

Have you seen pics of Kira's Mom's new kitten / cat Rory? I think the photos are in the Photo thread of the Misc. forums. He is cute.

^ Hey, it's my thread! Don't I get first dibs on the kitty? ;)

Barely off round three of antibiotics for round three of the UTI, and I'm starting round four. I am so tired of this! My temp's 101.8 AFTER ibuprofen, and my ex is at the pharmacy picking up my new rx. I feel like shit.

The only thing good is that my doc is convinced that the UTI will stop coming back once I stop self-cathing, and that may be quite soon. I'm doing so well in the plumbing department that I'm down to one cath a day instead of four to six.

^Good to hear. Yes, I think, once you're off that, the UTIs will go away on their own.

Sucks that you're feeling crummy, though.

(((hug)))

I think that was the idea - that there was no chance of anyone but you getting first dibs!

Kind of a bag of mixed news. Will focus on the "quite soon" on the self cath end.

Keep on doing well in the place you can. Soon the places that give you trouble will be less and less.

Oh, shit, another setback.

I felt lousy all weekend -- fever and a lot of lower back pain for the first time in ages. Long story made short, there was a whole pocket full of fluid that no one was aware of, for reasons not worth explaining. This morning it decided to break open -- right before the visiting nurse arrived, thank God. She had so much trouble getting it to stop bleeding that she said she was going to send me to the hospital. Yikes! It did finally slow down enough, and she got me an 8 a.m. appointment tomorrow with the plastic surgeon.

Here I was, thinking the wound vac would probably be off in a week, and now -- going by how the other tunnel went -- it looks more like a month. Which means I will not be home before September first, which I've wanted so badly.

I am so pissed.

Aw, I'm sorry to hear that. :(

I hope this one resolves more quickly. How is it that they didn't know about this?

Does getting rid of the pocket of fluid mean that you have a chance to get better? I hope so!

In the meantime...here's a cat that gives hugs. I'm sure that cat would have some for you. :)

And here's a LION doing the same...

Zen Hugs are not as cute as those, but they are on their way.

Sounds like a rough set back, bit it was found. Finding it means it can be fixed. For a long range "goal" how about trying to figure out how to sleep once the vac is off. No "white noise" to lull you. :D Just trying to make an omelet out of the eggs. ;)

Thank you, all, for hugs, omelettes and other forms of encouragement. :)

The appointment with the plastic surgeon went very well. She isn't worried at all about the new tunnel. Of course, she's not the one who's eager to go home! I'm going to talk with the visiting nurse tomorrow... my nurse friend and I have been discussing the possibility of my going home before the wound vac comes off. Former husband isn't convinced I'm ready. Visiting nurse gets the final say, because I can't/won't do it without her agreeing to keep me on her caseload. My house is outside her official geographic area.

I want to go home so badly!
