Worf and Deanna almost got together, but..

JesterFace

Fleet Captain
Commodore
It's the last season of TNG, Worf and Deanna are getting closer.
..but..
Worf gets a new post on DS9 and the romance is forgotten, he ends up marrying Jadzia.

I felt it was slap in the face. In the last TNG episode Worf's and Deanna's relationship is under a magnifying glass years in the future and suddenly he forgets her. True, it was an alternate timeline, still. Couples might get sick of each other fast, still. Worf and Jadzia together didn't feel right.

What did the actors Dorn and Sirtis and anyone else say about this?

I think "Slap in the face" is a bit of an exaggeration. I would have appreciated some line when he joined about the reason it didn't work out with Troi.

Sometimes things just don't work out though. Not all TV couples are fated. Maybe Worf left her to make sure the All Good Things timeline where she died and he grew to hate Riker never happened. Maybe just they grew apart after the ship go boom and they got new assignments.

It's ok. After years and YEARS of Riker and Troi eyeing each other and never getting over their past, it only makes sense that they were the ones who ended up together. Worf and Troi were only an official kissing couple for 1 or 2 episodes max, as I recall. Not a big deal, and people are allowed to move on.

I was honestly a bit disappointed that Will and Deanna ended up falling back into each other's orbits; to me it felt like a step back rather than a step forward. But if it worked for them, okie-doke.

Worf and Deanna seemed to have some interesting potential, and I wonder whether Alexander might have had a happier life. Plus I could have gone for seeing Deanna make an occasional appearance on DS9.

I was never sold on the romance between Worf and Troi. It felt a little contrived, like they needed something to create friction between Worf and Riker for the finale.

You forget about "Parallels", "Eye Of The Beholder" and "Genesis" where they are clearly involved. In "Parallels" we even see alternate timelines where Worf and her are married and have children!!

Right, I think if they were trying to create friction between Worf & Riker for the finale, they didn't want to set it up last-minute in the last episode alone, so they put it into the last few episodes to introduce the concept more gradually for the audience. The earliest possible connection between them might have been when Worf was paralyzed, but that's pretty much it.

There were tons of short-term relationships on TNG, and very few of them had all their loose ends tied up neatly. Such is space romance, apparently.

I'm glad Worf and Deanna didn't hook up.

Looking back, I see Jadzia as the greatest love of Worf's life. Possibly even greater than K'Ehleyr, and definitely a better match for him than Deanna ever could be.

This was solved in Imzadi II. I put it in a spoiler tag just in case not everybody has read it yet, but intends to do so...
Lwaxana interfered..... Normally she's the one to see her daughter happily married. And Lwaxana appreciated Worf - but not as parter for Deanna.

lol. She always called him "Woof" anyway, so no surprise there.

The whole Deanna-Worf stuff was over when Worf joined the staff of DS9. He entered a relationship with Jadzia then. Worf wasn't aboard the Gratitude Festival episode where Lwaxana was the reason that everyone got infatuated with the wrong person. I wonder if Worf would have been affected, too.....

Woof (as Lwaxana calls him) and Lwaxana together, that would be interesting.. or would it?

At the beginning of TNG Worf was still quite a Klingon, eager and easy to provoke. His dealings with Q and Lwaxana was a big trial of patience. Sometimes Worf seems to me more serene and composed than Sisko. Sisko became more and more Klingon. He even turned into one in an episode.
Nonetheless I'd like to have seen Deanna in a guest role aboard DS9. If only to chat with Ezri about the trials and hardships of being a counselor. Deanna has Reg as difficult patient, Ezri dealt with Garak. But I guess it didn't fit into the Dominion War storyline.

I guess someone has to say it.
Quark in drag.
There, I said it. :)

Deanna visiting DS9 during the war might have been a better fit than a Ferengi drag artist. :)

Not the best Ferengi episode. But I liked most of the Ferengi episodes. Nothing else than war scenes with a hell lot of victims would have been too dark and sad....

I would have preferred to have had more mileage out of Troi-Worf, if only because I think there was build up that should have been brought to some natural conclusion, whether they were together or not.

Conversely, Troi and Riker getting back together left me cold. It's as if they never really moved on, and all their talk over the seven years was false.
