(WIP) Enterprise D Interiors

Mr. Phraust

Lieutenant Commander
Red Shirt
Hello everyone! This is actually my first post. So, little intro. I'm a hard surface artist currently working on an accurate layout of the Stage 9 sets for TNG for a personal project. When completed you'll be able to walk around stage 9 set as it was during filming around season 7.

I'm about 95% done with the hallway and turbolift sets, but I realized I'm a little confused about the sliding door colors. Are they two different colors from inside to outside? The inside of a turbolift door seems a bit pink, whereas the outside seems more orange. Am I correct in thinking they are two different colors?

Any help is greatly appreciated. Also, as a first time poster I hope this is in the correct place. Apologies if it isi not.

Thanks!

Hello everyone! 2nd post here.

I'm an environmental artist - focused mainly on accurate reproductions of famous TV sets (Star Trek, I love Lucy, Saved by the Bell, etc.) Right now I'm focused on some TNG era sets, specifically the famous hallways of Stage 9.

I'm finishing up the area that tucks in around the entrance to the cargo bay / holodeck. There is a section seldom seen on screen, as it was usually where the film crew stood, but I know screenshots exist somewhere!

Does anyone know of a screen shot of what is here:

I know it is a door that caps a short hallway. And I know that to the side (hidden left and behind the holodeck door) is a door. I know the ceiling light is recessed into the ceiling. I feel I know what it looks like, but I'm going for complete accuracy here. So I don't want to miss any details.

Thank you in advance to all you wonderful artists and Star Trek fans out there - you guys rock!

Regards.

Since we never really get to see down this hallway, and we really don't know what deck they are on, I decided to take some artistic liberties with what was down that hallway. Here are some more examples:

I'm thinking I might model what the Cetacean facility looks like, as we never REALLY see what it looks like on the Enterprise this will be a fun project - I love being able to take some liberties within these sets.

Thanks for checking out my work!

I love the attention to detail...the mix of TNG corridor with the TMP corridor painting extension. Good stuff! :techman:

I also think that something like Cetacean Ops is a good choice. Seeing as we don't see this corridor section again, it makes perfect sense to portray it as a section on board that we also don't get to see.

Thank you. My wife and I were watching the episode a couple days ago and I saw this scene - I immediately had to model it. It was a great way to pay homage to a show I love as well.

@Mr. Phreez, welcome to the TrekBBS! Thanks so much for sharing your progress on recreating the TNG sets. Looks like impressive work so far. :bolian:

I just went ahead and merged your three threads on the topic. No need to start a new one for each aspect of the project. Let me know if you want me to change the thread title to reflect this new consolidated nature.

Thanks for commenting and letting me know! I'm still learning. :) I would like the thread title to say: (WIP) Enterprise D Interiors

Thanks, Michael!

My god, I thought the first couple renders you posted were set photos or HD screengrabs, @Mr. Phreez! Seriously some impressive work on the level of Donny Versiga. The Roddenberry Archive folks would probably love your stuff.

As someone who's writing a fanfic which takes place aboard a Galaxy-class ship with the occasional scene set in Cetacean Ops, I would welcome these for potential reference material!

Great work, @Mr. Phreez, the attention to detail is superb!
I believe that matte painting was actually a slightly modified piece of work originally used in The Motion Picture.

It's also seen briefly behind Dr. Crusher's office in a couple season 6 episodes.

Wow! Good catch on the shoot in the medical bay. I’ll go examine these and use them to do some tuning on my model. Thanks, Tate!

The specific episodes I know of are "Man of the People" and "The Quality of Life" in season six. There may be more that I haven't caught, though.
