Where does this scene go?

T'Girl

Vice Admiral
Admiral
I've been running across these screen shots for years and I do wonder exactly where they go.

If I have this straight, they are from Elaan of Troyius, it takes place in a new constructed rec room set, which was never seen again, strange give the cost of a new set. The scene was shot, but not included in the episode for some reason, probably time.

Do anyone know where in the episode this scene was supposed to go (between which two other scenes), and what is happening in the scene dialog wise?

In the one shot, it kind of looks as if Spock and Uhura are having a "moment."

Thanks.

After the Sickbay scene when Uhura tells the Captain that the Commissioner will be attending the wedding and petri is confined to Sickbay and before where Kirk goes to Elaan's quarters to tell her that Petri will recover. Referencing James Blish's adaption.

Sorry, I forgot about the dialogue. Kirk, McCoy and Uhura leave Sickbay discussing theproblem with Elaan as they pass the Rec Room where Spock is playing his harp. They make small talk about his playing ability and how music soothes the savage beast. Kirk suggests that Spock play some music and have it channeled to Elaan's quarters but there's never any music once Kirk arrives there in the filmed version.

This is from a deleted scene filmed during "Elaan Of Troyius." I believe the scene is included in James Blish's adaptation of the episode, but it didn't make the final aired episode.

Interesting...another example of Spock talking casually about Vulcan mating rituals....

We'll always have The Jam....

That new set was seen several times throughout the third season, including And the Children Shall Lead, and Is There In Truth No Beauty. They got a lot of use out of it, as I recall.

I think the lines that go with that second picture would be:
Uhura "You know. In another reality we'd be doing it."
Spock "Yes. And you'd be rail thin and have no chest."

That is a sexist statement that doesn't need to be expressed here.

Has anyone ever seen a stage blueprint featuring this set? I'm curious if it was set up on Stage 9 or 10.
