Where Are The Voyager Crew Now?

Bry_Sinclair

Vice Admiral
Admiral
As DS9 has a thread asking where that crew are, sixteen years after we last saw them, where do you think the Voyager crew wound up, 14 years after they returned to the Alpha Quadrant?

For me:

Janeway: Was promoted to the Admiralty (as we say in NEM) but placed in charged of a unit of Starfleet Science that was looking at all of the data and information the ship returned with regarding the Delta Quadrant. She was later placed in command of a task force that returned to the DQ using slipstream technology, their aim to help build positive relations with native races and form a new branch of the Federation.

Chakotay: Returned to the former DMZ, where he had to face off against a group calling themselves the "New Maquis" who wanted nothing more than to kill Cardassians (and Starfleeters if they got in the way). He was killed saving a Cardassian world from being destroyed. His actions fostering a new peace (though tentative) peace in the region.

Tuvok: After recouperating on Vulcan, he returned to active duty, was promoted to Commander and made Voyager's new First Officer--which was assigned to the first long-term exploratory mission into the Gamma Quadrant after the war. After several years he was promoted to Captain of Voyager and was part of Janeway's task force.

Paris: Settled on Earth, working for Janeway's team developing the slipstream technology for use on Starfleet ships' as well as teaching at the Academy, as he raised his new daughter. When the slipstream drive was perfected he flew the first test flight, then was assigned to Janeway's task force, though now as a full Commander and First Officer of Voyager. Miral (due to her Klingon genetics) advanced far rapidly than a human child and is now at Starfleet Academy.

Torres: Settled on Earth, working for Janeway's team heading up the slipstream technology project for use on Starfleet ships', as she raised her new daughter. She was then assigned to the task force, as a full Commander and Chief Engineering Officer on Voyager. Miral (due to her Klingon genetics) advanced far rapidly than a human child and is now at Starfleet Academy.

Kim: Promoted to Lieutenant and assigned to the U.S.S. Challenger as Chief Operations Officer. He would later serve under Captain La Forge and would be promoted up to Commander and First Officer.

EMH: Assigned to Jupiter Station for analysis, then posted to Starfleet Medical.

Seven: After a full debrief from Starfleet Tactical and Intelligence, she was assigned to Janeway's special unit. She would receive a Starfleet field commission before becoming part of the task force and returning to the Delta Quadrant onboard Janeway's flagship.

Neelix: Lived happily on the Talaxian colony for six months before it was assimilated by the Borg.

Kes: With only a couple years left of her life, she returned to Ocampa and saved her people, making their planet flourish and capable of sustaining a humanoid population again, as well as imparting her knowledge and experiences on them. they would quickly develop and grow, becoming a positive force for change in their sector, before expanding and forming their own alliance of worlds. She was regarded as a saviour and founder of the new order.

U.S.S. Voyager: After being fully repaired and refitted with all modern systems, she was launched on a long-term mission of exploration into the Gamma Quadrant, the first of its kind since the war ended. Under the command of Captain Erika Benteen (the once disgraced officer who regained her captaincy during the war), with Commander Tuvok as XO, Lt. Commander Ezri Dax as Ship's Counsellor/Diplomatic Officer, Lieutenant Ayala as Chief Conn Officer, Lieutenant Vorik as Chief Engineer, Lieutenant Samantha Wildman as Chief Science Officer, Lieutenant Greskrendtregk as Chief Medical Officer, Lieutenant Golwat as Chief Security/Tactical Officer, and Ensign Gerron as Chief Operations Officer. After a highly successful mission she returned to Earth in time to take part in the new task force to return to the Delta Quadrant.

Kim: got home, realised he was gay and became a bottom. Now spends most of his day in a basement in a gimp mask and leather chaps only uttering the words... "Yes, daddy."

Janeway occasionally visits him and feeds him grapes through his mask while she reminisces about the old days.

A good effort and perfectly plausible.

Unfortunately, (or fortunately) for me the Relaunch books are pretty much my head canon now.

Funnily enough I can totally see that

Thank you. Other than the first couple of relaunch books I've not read any of the rest, so in my head this is kinda how things go for the crew. Who knows, maybe the crew stumble across a crashed Borg Sphere and find a familiar face among the frozen drones...

Janeway - Now an admiral she caused the destruction of Starfleet by managing to piss off the Klingons, Romulans and Cardassians so much that they joined together and blew Earth to pieces. Escaped on Voyager but was soon captured and executed.

Chakotay - Following Admiral Janeway's time altering in Endgame, Chakotay did make it back to the Alpha Quadrant but died of boredom when he was captured by the Cardassians and forced to watch all the Chakotay centric Voyager episodes on a loop.

Tuvok - Took command of his own ship, the USS Neelix, which was the first vessel to be destroyed during the war with the Klingon/Romulan/Cardassian alliance. Tuvok survived and was captured but was shot dead when an alien parasite caused him to undergo a hyper Pon Farr which made him dangerously aggressive.

Paris and Torres - Were on Earth when it was destroyed. No one cared.

Kim - Finally promoted to Lieutenant (Junior Grade) and assigned to the USS Neelix on the very day it is destroyed.

The Doctor - His program is lost during the many attacks on Earth during the war but fear not. His backup program returns to New Earth hundreds of years later.

Kes - Died on the trip home to Ocampa.

Neelix - Murdered in a fit of extreme annoyance by his Talaxian girlfriend immediately after his viewscreen conversation with Seven in Endgame. He had it coming.

Seven Of Nine - Following the destruction of Earth and the death of Chakotay, Seven returned to the Borg as their new Queen. As the Borg were on their knees following the events of Endgame it was easy for Seven to turn them into a force for good. 50 years later the Borg easily defeated the Klingon/Romulan/Cardassian Alliance and recreated Earth. The Borg Federation continues to prosper with Queen Anika as their leader.

Janeway: A Starfleet Admiral who is in charge of a special task force which can immediately be sent to an area of space where its necessary. The USS Voyager is the flagship of that task force and Janeway herself sometimes (or more correctly mostly) is personally leading the different operations from the ship.

Chakotay: The Captain of the USS Voyager.

Tom Paris: Pilot of the USS Voyager.

B'Elanna Torres: Chief Engineer of the USS Voyager.

Tuvok: After a period as Chief of Security on the USS Enterprise, he's now back as Chief of Security of the USS Voyager.

Harry Kim: OPS officer on the USS Voyager

Seven Of Nine: Science Chief on the USS Voyager

The Doctor, a.k.a. Shmullus Zimmerman: Back as Medical Chief on USS Voyager because they couldn't find any better doctor for their different missions.

Neelix: Got tiredo of the life on that horrible asteroid, left with his ship and is heading for the Alpha Quadrant to find his old friends.

Kes: Q gave her a human lifespan and she's living on a planet called New Carlisle between Bajoran space and the Tzenketi Alliance. Besides growing plants, she assists a bunch of former Maquis members in their effort to protect the planet from different dangers.

oh, so much death, torture and destruction

It's like in the Voyager centric Mirror Universe novels and short stories

I'm not that fond of them. I've tried to like them but it just didn't work for me.

Too many good characters missing.

Too many mediocre characters added.

I tried once to sync my own stories with the Relaunch canon but it didn't work so I thought "back to basics" and re-instated the old crew. From now on I create my own canon. :techman:

I can understand that many fans want to keep the crew together, but I think they'd actually disperse, even though they would keep in touch and there would be bonds linking them for the rest of their lives.

Janeway : Now in the Admiralty, though I still think she has been promoted to keep out of harm's way :) Probably she does serve in some supplementary capacity as 'expert on the delta quadrant', or such.

Chakotay: offered a new Starfleet commission, but goes civilian. Probably reuniting with his indian tribe for a while to contemplate his cultural background. Could do anything after that; perhaps something in archeology.

Torres: will take some engineering job. I could see her working on perfecting the slipstream drive, as suggested earlier. In that case, she will probably be in contact with Seven, if only for her Borg knowledge of such propulsion methods.

Paris: Becomes a test pilot (not a reckless one though, now that he has a family -- it has always been one of his passions, he has the qualifications and added to that has seen a lot of truly alien ships over the years), probably for starfleet as he will keep close to B'elanna who probably will be working for SF. I don't see him in SF, though, just as a hired professional.

Kim: becomes an ensign on another vessel, where he can call his family every other day. Stays an ensign for the rest of his starfleet "career".

Seven: will first be thoroughly 'debriefed' by various branches of Starfleet: security, technical, medical, you name it. After that, it's uncertain, though she probably would be doing something sciency -- perhaps be in the same team as Torres.

EMH: will be studied to see what made his program sentient. After that, he's free to go. No doubt he will have significant contributions to make to starfleet medical with his delta quadrant experiences.

That's what I think would be the most probable outcome (well, perhaps except for Kim, but I couldn't resist that :) )

Hm! here's mine

Janeway : Given a deskjob at starfleet, they decide she can be less of a menace behind a desk.

Chakotay: New CO of a re-fit voyager (minus all future tech).

Tuvok: I like his role in the Titan novels so he works for starfleet intelligence for a bit and eventually gets assigned to the Titan with Captain Riker.

Torres: Gets a job on earth at one of the shipyards and starts work on getting slipstream technology working correctly.

Paris: Becomes a test pilot (yeah I know its mentioned above but it still makes sense) or teaches advanced starship piloting at the academy

Kim: Disapointed in his lack of promotions, kim resigns from starfleet and jumps on the next ship to the gamma quadrent only to miss his suprise party to celebrate his multi-promotion to lt cmdr and his surprise transfer as XO of voyager.

Seven: Probably disected to see how the borg work, or if not given a role with starfleet headquarters science division.

EMH: His maker get fed up with him after 2 months and introduces a virus into him to corrupt his data beyond repair.

Icheb: graduates quickly from the academy and makes captain within 7 years and on his first mission in the gamma quadrent runs into Harry Kim.

No deaths. Seven years as the only humans in an unexplored quadrant is enough purgatory for anyone. I want to see them have a happy and fulfilling life, whether they choose to stay in Starfleet or not is not that important.
