What would you say to a weekly procedural show in the Trek universe like police or CSI type of show?

I had Star Trek: Search and Rescue as my procedural type show. I don't think I have to explain what they do.
I actually think this is one of the better ideas to fit into a Trek setting.

I feel like some things that have historically worked really well for Star Trek, like legal dramas, maybe only work since they’re super infrequent and the writers an focus on an interesting analogy to modern day issues. I have the feeling that would be hard to maintain in a series.

A Star Fleet NCIS show: SFCIS: New Orleans - Jonathan Archer (Scott Bakula) resigns from Star Fleet and joins SFCIS and is assigned to the New Orleans office where he helps solve crimes involving Star Fleet officers along with his partner, a young probie agent named Sisko.

The first thing that popped into my head when I first saw the thread was . . . wait for it . . .

A DTI Procedural.

CLB has already written a number of DTI-procedural novels and e-novellas. And others, including DW, have written DTI-procedural short stories.

And as to an S31-procedural, I'd say the same thing I said to The Sopranos. Which I regarded as a reason not to get HBO between January 1999 and June 2007. Not that I've had a reason to get HBO in several decades.

I'm not really big on cop shows, myself. I prefer mysteries featuring private detectives.

For instance, disgraced admiral (retired) Norah Satie, having lost credibility in official circles but still seeking purpose and seeing conspiracy all around, starts a private investigative firm.

What about a cop / CSI type show, how would that work in the Trek universe?
This honestly just sounds like Star Trek to me. Star Trek, at least in the classic format laid out by The Original Series, IS a procedural. The Enterprise goes on a new mission every week, often to a new planet. A lot of their duties overlap with the police or the military. And McCoy occasionally has to solve a medical mystery like on House or CSI.

What even is "crime" in a post-scarcity world where everyone has everything they need at the push of a button, and self-actualisation is the main driver?

Didn't Tom Paris say once there still was wallet theft in France, but only for the couleur locale, as the 'thieves' gave the wallets back to the owners after they had rolled them?

That is to say, there'd be pobabably be little need for economic crime. But what would 2 people do that really, really, really can't stand one another? Would they always be able to talk it out like evolved humans should? Or would (hate driven) murders still occur?

Why would people even carry wallets!

Why would people even carry wallets!

Found the quote in the meantime. Turns out it doesn't speak of wallets, just pockets.

This is from The Cloud, the first episode in which the holographic Chez Sandrine bar features.

PARIS: I learned a great deal that semester at the Academy, most of it right here.
SANDRINE: Oui, and most of it from me.
PARIS: I found this place just after my pocket was picked walking by the harbour.
KIM: Somebody picked your pocket? On Earth?
PARIS: Oh, they just do it for tourists. They give it back. Most of the time.
GAUNT GARY: Nine ball in the corner pocket.
PARIS: You see that pool table, Harry? The table at Sandrine's at Marseilles has attracted the world's greatest hustlers throughout the centuries. I thought it might be fun to programme in some of the great players to shoot with.
