What does Roxann Dawson think about her time on Voyager?

I looked up Picardo on Wiki. He played the mean coach on The Wonder Years. I'll be damned. I guess I never noticed, because I didn't know who he was back then.

I am going to go back and watch all those old episodes that he was in.

I remember when Voyager first started. When I saw Picardo, I was like, "hey, that's the coach from The Wonder Years!"
I thought, "Isn't that the guy from Innerspace?"

Presumably something along the lines of 'without it no one would know who I am'?

To be honest this sentiment should probably be echoed by virtually every Star Trek cast member.

Technically, most of them are still not that well known ...
There are a few exceptions

Robert Picardo, Avery Brooks, Rene Auberjenous, LeVar Burton, Ethan Philips, Colm Meany & Kate Mulgrew were well known before their jobs on Trek.

Those actors aren't that well known, except for Burton. Benson isn't exactly that well known anyway. Most viewers would struggle to place those actors even during the run of their respectful shows.

I've seen people say they weren't familiar with actors who were more famous like Bill Cosby or even Harrison Ford (despite saying they had seen Star Wars and Indiana Jones..)

The good thing is there is still a difference between "being known" and "being wealthy". They might not have screaming fans and paparazzi hunting them, but they still make a living, probably a lot better than 90% of Hollywood actors/directors/writers around.

So are saying all these replies from fellow posters recalling these actors from other projects before Trek are figments of our imagination?

Picardo I knew only from "Starlog" magazine promoting the SF movie "Explorers". He did the voice of Dad alien. Auberjonois I did know from "Benson". Brooks from "Hawk". Burton from "Roots", of course, and US fans knew him from "Reading Rainbow". Mulgrew I knew from "Mrs Columbo" (aka "Kate Loves a Mystery" when Peter Falk objected).

The rest mentioned were total strangers to me.

You might recall Colm Meany grew to fame due to the much acclaimed film "The Commitments", a about an Irish rock band. He's also one of the marshal's in "Con. Air" starring Nick Cage.

Con Air came out in 1997, well into DS9's run, and ten years after his Trek debut.

It doesn't count.

I know a friend of mine used to blather on about her love of "The Commitments". Not my kind of film though. And I slept through most of "Con.Air".

Not even the music?

I'm not of fan of Nick Cage myself, so I can empathize.
