Michael was exactly one week younger than I.

I remember him from when he was rather young. Wearing the loud 1970s clothes with a big 'fro.

Most of his music wasn't anything that I loved. So I can't pick five favorites.

I own one single (vinyl, from back in the day) of "Ben." I still love that song. It is my favorite MJ song bar none.

My daughter, who is visiting, had never heard of it. I found it on Youtube and played it.

And for the first time, I felt some sorrow over his death. That was Michael Jackson, before he weirded out.

Yeah, it was back in the olde days when Music Television played real music for a significant portion of the day and The Learning Channel actually helped you learn about things other than how to raise litters of children. I miss those days.

I think Thriller is fabulous and it made music video history, easily. I also think Leave Me Alone was brilliant, and Scream was a masterpiece as far as videos go.
Billie Jean was extremely ahead in the use of special effects, nowadays it can make you smile to see how basic they used to be, but at the time it was really innovative.
