What are your top 5 Michael Jackson songs?

Black or White
Beat It
Dirty Diana
Wanna be Startin' Something
Scream

I'm also adding Man in the Mirror, cause that song is the shit.

I was never a fan, but the least annoying are

1. Billie Jean
2. Man in the Mirror
3. Smooth Criminal
4. Thriller (mainly for Vincent Price)
5. Nasty Boys ;)

Dishonorable Mention: The Girl Is Mine (had to sing this in middle school music class...hmmm...I should hate it more than any other song.)

I really never paid much attention to the creep other than he had some great musicians on his records. I much rather Weird Al's parody songs of him. Those are GOLD.

The OP's question was quite specific and easy to follow. If you can't post on point without a snide comment, then don't post at all. There are plenty of other topics available to express your opinion on Jackson himself.

Michael was exactly one week younger than I.

I remember him from when he was rather young. Wearing the loud 1970s clothes with a big 'fro.

Most of his music wasn't anything that I loved. So I can't pick five favorites.

I own one single (vinyl, from back in the day) of "Ben." I still love that song. It is my favorite MJ song bar none.

My daughter, who is visiting, had never heard of it. I found it on Youtube and played it.

And for the first time, I felt some sorrow over his death. That was Michael Jackson, before he weirded out.

So for me, songs of his I like:

1. Ben. Far surpasses any others.

Runners up:

2. ABC
3. Billie Jean
4. Beat It

Billlie Jean
Beat It
Smooth Criminal
Thriller
Human Nature

Runners Up: Say, Say, Say and ABC

Ben
Billie Jean
Thriller
Black or White
Give in to me

It would also be interesting to see which videos of Michael Jackson people like best, since he was very often ahead and very creative in that particular field. :)

Thiller was the great masterpiece, but my favorite music video was Billie Jean :techman:

It's a good song, but I've never been able to get past the fact that he's singing about a rat.

Thriller, obviously, is the gold standard:

Smooth Criminal after that:

Billie Jean was always memorable for me:

Bad was fun in a West Side Story kind of way:

History was probably the most elaborate intro, if a tad self-indulgent:

Smooth Criminal
Billie Jean
Man in the Mirror
Thriller
Don't Stop Till You Get Enough

To be fair though, I'm not a huge Michael Jackson fan, and there's a good chunk of his material that I still haven't gotten around to hearing.

I think Thriller is fabulous and it made music video history, easily. I also think Leave Me Alone was brilliant, and Scream was a masterpiece as far as videos go.
Billie Jean was extremely ahead in the use of special effects, nowadays it can make you smile to see how basic they used to be, but at the time it was really innovative.
