Whamageddon 2019

Yes, it's that time of they ear again, where the song "Last Christmas" by Wham! just fucking play over and over and over and over and over and over again on the radio. You turn to a Christmas music channel, wham -- Wham! You walk through a store and wham -- Wham!

In fact, as a user pointed out to me here at TrekBBS last year, there's even a website where you play a game of how long it's been since you heard the song. I lost six or more times on Sunday alone!
https://www.whamageddon.com/

Everybody wants to do a new cover of this annoying song.

Have you heard the original? Take out "Christmas" and replace it anything else "last year", "last month", etc., and is it even really a Christmas song? No. No it is not.

So, clearly it's evil and it needs to be stopped and put on a list with pumpkin spice.

But there has to be a way to prove it's evil. So, I've tried methods to find the proof.

whamageddon in an anagram generator:
* A Goddamn Hew
* Damned Wag Ho
* Goddamn Ah We
* Egad Damn Who

Okay, that didn't work. And "Last Christmas" didn't help either. Time to do math.

Wham! is 9426 (phone keypad numbers/letters). 4+2 = 6. So that's 966. Getting closer.

Ah, the devil is in the details. Wham! thought they were clever, but I turned that "9" upside down and low and behold: 666.

There is incontrovertible proof Wham! and their song is evil.

Oh they both deserve a place.

It'd be easier to list the Christmas songs that shouldn't be erased from reality than narrow it down to the very worst.

I'd save Fairytale Of New York by The Pogues and...that's about it to be honest.

If I absolutely had to pick more I'd go for :

White Christmas by Bing Crosby,
Happy Christmas War Is Over by John & Yoko,
Merry Christmas Everybody by Slade,
Run With The Fox by Squire and White,
I Believe In Father Christmas by Greg Lake,
Ring Out Solstice Bells by Jethro Tull,
Santa Claus Is Coming To Town by Bruce & The E Street Band,
Carol Of The Bells by The Trans Siberian Orchestra,

and after that I really am struggling.

Back when I had a job counting inventory in retail stores every day, Clear Channel made every December completely miserable.

I wish they WOULD play the religious songs. Because they’re better songs than the schmaltzy pop radio ones. My desire to hear music that sounds good is greater than my desire not to have religion shoved down my throat.

Yes, they are.

Saving Crosby/Bowie's "Little Drummer Boy / Peace on Earth." I will die on this hill, a pile of bodies at my feet.

I listen to Radio 6 Music in the UK, it's way too "cool" to be fucking around playing Christmas songs.
Although I did see Coca Cola's "Holidays Are Coming" truck for the first time this year on television today.

One of the best Christmas songs ever...

Lacuna Coil -Naughty Christmas

Actually, I was in the shops today, and failed to hear any Xmas songs. I might have tuned them out, but I don't think so.

I hope nobody's been Wham!d yet!

Last year I got Wham!d at work when it came over the PA system. I think I lasted about a week. :sigh:

Oh well. In the hallowed halls of Whamhalla, the feast is eternal. :beer:

I've already been Wham!ed twice today.

And just one and-a-half hours into Thanksgiving, I was Wham!ed twice.

And no Goddamn courtesy reach around.
