Okay we need to talk about Spock's hair.

That curve ruins it. It's terrible. It's so bad. They kept doing this on Enterprise with other Vulcans too, but this is Spock himself. He deserves better.

Not just the curve, the hair needs to come from the rear of the head, not from the center. Hair from the center out just screams "Shitty wiiiig!"

My Dad was always amazed at how much abuse Spock could take and still not have a hair out of place. I mean, you could jerk a cap off of his head, as they did in "Bread and Circuses"... not a hair mussed up. The only time I recall his hair mussed was in "The Apple" after a severe windstorm.

You can't see it because it's installed behind his ears, but he has two containment field generators taking care of it.

As for the different hairstyles, maybe Vulcans don't have all the same hairstyle, it just looks like that to the untrained human eye, and all those subtle differences are the current hair fashions at the time.

Providing that is from the Q&A clip, considering it's supposed to be a prequel (show when Spock first came on the Enterprise) they might have intentionally given him that haircut to soften him up - make him look young and inexperienced.

Funny how of all the actors who played Spock so far, even of all the actors who played Vulcans, only Nimoy looked good with that particular cut

I thought Cattrall had a pretty good Vulcan 'do. Her decision to lose the sides altogether really made it work for her, in my opinion. I just wish we didn't have decades of Trek slapping the same haircut on so many people.

TOS had a good mix, but the Berman era has some pretty damn dodgy Vulcan looks. Selar was pretty good, and Sarek (thankfully they continued to have Lenard with a shorter front than most, which helps set him apart some) but some of those later wigs...yikes.

The ones in Take Me Out to the Holosuite almost physically pain me.

Kinda unrelated, but your comment reminded me, I had a dream once where the Vulcans were talking exclusively in the kind of parlance you find some of the characters in Adventure Time using, and when they did the Vulcan salute they said "Be excellent to each other", but still being outwardly stoic as ever. Okay that's completely unrelated.
