"Vixen is an upcoming animated web series developed by writer/producer Marc Guggenheim, scheduled to debut on August 25, 2015, on The CW's online streaming platform, CW Seed. It is based on the DC Comics character Mari McCabe/Vixen, a costumed superhero crime-fighter with the power to mimic the abilities of any animal that has ever lived on Earth and is set in the same fictional universe as Arrow, The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow." - Source

"Actress Megalyn Echikunwoke will provide the voice for McCabe, and should the character ever crossover to Arrow or The Flash – which is exactly what’s rumored to be on the cards – she’ll also portray her in live action. Before that happens though, both Grant Gustin (Barry Allen) and Stephen Amell (Oliver Queen) will voice animated versions of their characters on the Vixen webseries.

Producer Marc Guggenheim has previously confirmed that Vixen takes place around 3x15/3x16 of Arrow, and will serve as an origin story for the character as she learns to harness her beast-like powers on the streets of Detroit.

The series will consist of six webisodes, totaling a runtime of 30 minutes, and is set to premiere on August 25th on CW Seed." - Source

Megalyn Echikunwoke is a terrific choice to play Mari in live action. She's gorgeous.

I just hope the live-action version of her costume looks like actual fabric rather than body paint.

Okay... Not bad so far -- pretty well-animated and decently written. A bit brief to get a real feel for, though. Maybe I should wait until they're all up and watch the whole thing.

It has much the same look at most DC animation projects lately, in part because Phil Bourassa seems to be their go-to character designer these days. But the character designs also look just a bit more realistic, presumably to fit in better with the live-action shows it shares a universe with.

I do wonder how Mari ends up being a big enough deal that both the Arrow and the Flash end up after her.

^And the intro to that article answers my question about what the Flash and Arrow are doing there. Although it doesn't explain why they're attacking her.

And hey, is Detroit the first real US city to be mentioned in the Arrowverse? At least, in the non-Constantine parts of it? Looking at the Arrowverse Wiki, all the real cities listed are in foreign countries, except for Constantine's home setting of Atlanta.

I feel like Philadelphia was mentioned, but I can't say why I think that. But as far as real cities we've actually seen, this is probably the first in the United States.

Have to say, I was expecting these to be thirty minute episodes, not five minute episodes. Not that it was bad, just short. They flashed back three days At the rate they are going, I could easily see that being the finale. I feel like it would be way better to binge watch them all at once. But I'll stick with watching each episode when it comes out until I get tired of it. Are they one a week on Mondays?

ETA: I mean Tuesdays. I forgot what day was today.

Decent opening. Good animation. I didn't like the use of the b word. There was no need for that. I don't even recall Arrow or Flash using such language on their episodes.

I suspect they have (admittedly I don't recall it, though). It's a word that gets said on television quite regularly and Arrow is more or less in the middle of the pack there.

If the b-word is "bitch," I didn't even notice. The "give him a job" gag was a bit risqué, though.

I find that a lot of web "series" just feel like an hour-long show chopped into little pieces.

Which is probably done with later DVD release or TV broadcast in mind. Although it's more like a half-hour show in this case -- six segments of about five minutes each (minus multiple iterations of the end credits).

It was and I thought it was too much. I had forgotten about that other dialogue and I think that's too much too. I think this could be or should be a cartoon that appeals to kids as much as adults.

It's designed to have the same viewing audience as Arrow. So it's not a kid's cartoon (nor is it marketed as one).

Although the "give him a job" line is only risque if you know what it means. It isn't going to teach anyone something dirty.
