Spoilers Una's future

But surely in the other timeline he would have done everything possible and that didn’t work.
Only difference now is that he’s aware of James Kirk. Maybe he’ll ask him to do one of his epic speeches and that will convince Starfleet to let her go.
He'll need some Picard level oration

I really like the character and actress so would want to see more. Yet, with Hemmer, they show they can dispose of characters.

I'm also slightly worried about a general pathos. And that is its consumption by TOS. I'm starting to understand how some fans were upset by the Enterprise finale.

We have Kirk already. Pike has been told you're not as important as Spock. Hemmer will make way for Scotty maybe. Are we just going to see this potentially great show gradually taken over like a Borg in order to transition it into TOS?

I guess to some degree it's inevitable. It becomes Kirk's Enterprise and I'm much like Pike himself and I arguing about inevitable fate. But I really hope that these great characters they have built don't just become a platform for more TOS.

I mean, not really. ENT used a holodeck to put the focus on characters from 200 years in the future. All of these characters belong in the time they are in, and are part of this universe. And whether people want to admit it or not, Spock is more important than Pike. So is Kirk. Scotty is more important than Hemmer.

There are no characters in all of Star Trek as important as Kirk and Spock. If you don't want TOS being respected and put on a pedestal, you shouldn't be watching a show that takes place only 6 years before it starts. The whole point of this show is to lead up to Kirk's Enterprise. Expecting anything else is silly.

Yes I'm silly. Silly, SILLY ME to want the characters in the show to be in the main focus and to want to explore them. To have some screen time with actually someone fucking original. Or at least semi-original.

Why even bother with these interlopers? Why not just do TOS remake. We need another one of those.

I mean, yes really in terms of the Enterprise ending. In both bases the main stars of the show are playing second fiddle to other Star Trek characters eras. Now STW may handle it well... but I'm allowed this concern that they will just be pawns for the TOS story.

Respected is one thing.

Well and good.

"Put on a pedestal?"

Fuck that.

Here's a thing: Spock is more interesting in SNW because Kirk's not around.

I was hoping so too. But, that confidence right now is not quite there any more.

The Cage is before Strange New Worlds.

oh fuck I forgot about that... hmm. Wait. I need to get this straight in my head. It's doing a number on me! So, do we know if she's supposed to be around when he has that accident?

We do not. Spock seems to be the only one to help.

lmao. Nah. Spock is "more interesting" to YOU because you have a wild anti-Kirk thing going on.

He's also getting better storylines because it's not 1966.

Anyway, I hope Kirk gets 50% of the screentime next season just to piss off the people who are mad he's here. Without Kirk, there wouldn't be a Star Trek for you to complain about.

The fact that Kirk is here at all irks me. Not because I'm anti-Kirk but because I'm wanting as much of Pike and Spock as possible before Kirk kicks Pike out "because Star Trek. "

There's something definitely odd about her sentence. She can't communicate with anyone on the outside at all.

There's got to be something that explains that. Personally, I'm guessing she's in the hands of Section 31.

There needs to be some explanation why Pike doesn't do this in the alternate timeline though. Strictly speaking, realistically he should learn something in this week's time travel episode that his bad future counterpart didn't that saves Una from 7+ years of jail. What that could be, I couldn't really tell. The only wild card factor is James Kirk, who Pike is now aware of 7 years before they meet in the bad future timeline. Well, that and Pike now knows what Romulans look like years before anyone else in the Fed.
I've thought about what that could be. I think you hit the nail on the head. He learned that no one at all can communicate with her. Without knowing that, Pike probably thinks justice will be fair and square. A reasonable sentence. But when that didn't happen, it probably was too late to do anything. He doesn't know where they've taken her, etc.

Now he knows it's not a reasonable sentence at all and is ready to act immediately.

We'll see what actually transpires, but that's what comes to mind.
