TV ads that make you want to turn off the TV

Thank goodness for PBS, the only commercial ads are the 'this program sponsored by' or 'this program made possible by your contributions' at the beginning or end. It's quite a relief, honestly. I watch their Create or their World channels most of the time now. My cooking is getting better, too 👨‍🍳

I will note that reading this thread earlier this morning, I was thinking, "Has the auto-censor stopped working?"

Then it hit me: for a moment, I thought I was looking at Fountain Pen Network (where the closest thing to scatological language permitted is the "turd" emoji, and sexual proanity isn't allowed at all).

This wasn't on TV, but it wa on billboards around my home city (Omaha, NE).

They were ads for a heating/air conditioning company. They said this, AND I QUOTE:

Your Wife Is Hot.
Better Get Her A/C Fixed.

How in the hell does this make it to the public? :wtf:

It's like those old Aspercreme ads that went like this:

"You bet your sweet AS-percreme!":guffaw:

That Oak Street Health commercial...their spokesman's got to be more excited to go to the doctor than anyone I've ever seen outside of a kid's show. Not sure it rises to the level of "turn the TV off", though. The music is kind of cool (at least there's no annoying lyrics)

Those stupid animal-rescue ads.

Notice how they only use the CUTE animals? ;)

The music is super annoying and overly emotional, as is the voiceover (who often gets so into it that they're about to cry).

Hey, genius operating the camera, why don't YOU give the animals some food? You're right fucking THERE!

The ASPCA is also not nearly as charitable as you would think, unless putting the money in their own pockets is considered a charity. If you want to help out animals, give to your local shelters.
