"Treason" Down Under

I had no idea I was hotlinking, sorry! I am not very computer literate and all I did was copy and paste my own text. I will keep it in mind and won`t copy smileys again.

Anyway, I have read quite a bit of Treason. What I have read so far is very good and I am determined to write a detailed review as soon as possible.

Wow, I didn't realize it was coming out already. I thought I still had a couple more weeks before I wanted to start watching out for it.

It's a trade paperback. In fact, I don't think there have been any HC's in any of the announcements for the next couple years.

I think the Cruicible onmibus might have been one, but that got cancelled when Marco left.

What? No Crucible-omnibus? :(

Or just not in HC (instead perhaps in Trade Paperback)? *keeps hoping*

As for "Treason": Any reason for a Trade PB, and not an ordinary MM PB? And are there any plans on releasing it as MM PB in a year or so? I'm not too fond of the Trade PB-format in general since I find them a bit uncomfortable to read...

I finished it a couple of days ago... now I wanna know when the next one is due? How many years do I have to wait?

I just got my copy Monday, but I only just finished A Singular Destiny tonight (yeah, I know, I'm a bit behind...). I'll be starting it tonight. :D

I just found out that the my copy of the book I ordered from Amazon yesterday has shipped, and since I live less than an hour away from the nearest warehouse it could be here as early as this weekend.

Picked it up today. Pretty scrawny for a TPB.

I have to find a synopsis for the last book. It's been so long now that I don't remember what happened at all.

I just got my copy, so I haven't read it yet, but i'm disappointed that it was released in a different format than the previous 16 numbered novels (plus a few others) and came with a new price tag :vulcan:.

Does anyone know why Pocket decided to institute the change?

The new format isn't really all that bad, but with the NF books now costing almost double of what they used to, on top of the fact that the pages are double spaced with, apparently, a bigger font than the rest of trek-lit, it feels like a bit of a rip-off. Hell...the book is only 340 pages or so. Don't get me wrong...I love PAD's wacky Excalibur-Sector 221-G crew, but it kind of feels like the fans are being taken advantage of. In recent years PAD has only written the NF gang sparingly, so when NF fans do get a new novel, we're chomping at the bit. I'll still pay, at least for now, but hopefully the other novel-only series won't go through the same "make-over" that NF did.

The last several New Frontier novels were first published as hardcovers. This means that Treason is less expensive for the people who don't wait for mass market paperbacks.

(FWIW, Pocket hasn't published any Trek hardcovers since the last Shatner novel in 2007.)

I just got my copy along with the comic collection from Amazon yesterday, but since I'm in the middle of three other books (The Dresden Files: Storm Front, STVoy: Full Circle, and STVan: Reap the Whirldwind), it's gonna be a little while before I read it.

^I really enjoyed it, too. Took me all of about a day to get through it. I just wish there was some info on the next one might be available.

Saw it in Minotaur for $32.95. As much as I like Peter David and New Frontier, I think I'll wait to get it at Borders for a reasonable price. It's $11 cheaper at Collins, but I don't like the chances of finding it at one of their stores...

I'm not a fan of the new format at all. It'll look really out of place in my bookshelf. Hardcovers are bad enough, but this is somewhere between them and paperbacks, and just looks silly.
