Timeless is possibly the best Voyager episode?

I do think "NON SEQUITUR" sets a precedence for Kim in "TIMELESS".

Survivor's guilt.

In "NON SEQUITUR", he felt truly bad about Tom's fate and that Danny Byrd was over there suffering instead of him.

In "TIMELESS"... well, the entire future of Kim was full of survivor's guilt and wanting to change what happened.

In a strange way, the former episode help set up, emotionally, the latter.

A very generous assessment.

Ohh yeah I remember that. But if they made Harry an alien they would have had to write for the character rather than just having a side kick good boy.
Yeah, like they're supposed to. Like DS9 did with Nog, a background character. And Bashir, a character who was foundering just like Harry was. But when Bashir's character needed work, the showrunners came in with the genetic enhancement plot, and had S31 recruit him. When Harry's character was in a similar state, nothing was done. That's why these days, Bashir is regarded as a strong character, and Harry is pretty much regarded as pathetic.

If they weren't going to do something with the character, they should have killed him off. Maybe even done it in this episode, have the actual Harry sacrifice himself to save Voyager instead of one who never exists.
It's a boring episode, Harry is boring, everyone else is boring.. I love time travel but damn.
If it helps, it wasn't time travel, it was a visit to an alternate timeline.

The two are related. Either way, you're repositioned in the time stream. But the results are different.

Ironically, given that Harry's character wasn't really going anywhere, this would have been a decent way to boot him from the show without killing him.

Maybe he could... until "NIGHTINGALE" showed us how inept at leadership he was.
Harry finding out that despite his high grades at the Academy, he was poorly suited to serve as a Starfleet officer might have been a good development arc for him as well. But unfortunately, the writers painted him as a very competent officer for every episode except that one.
