The Witcher - Netflix

I was surprised when I heard they were using the books and not the games, I had just assumed they would base it on the games.

Follow the story of the books, take visual cues from the games. (Which are set after the books anyway, IIRC.)

So I wonder if they decided not to cast a minority actress as Ciri after all the drama, or if that was just not a definite thing?

I'm more interested to hear how Cavill will sound as Geralt. From playing the game I have a bias towards what he should sound like, so I'll be interested to see what they go for.

As for the look my only real complaint is he looks too clean. Again thanks to the games I'm used to a more weathered and particularly scarred Geralt. He has a very notable scar running from the top of his forehead and down to this cheek over his left eye so I was expecting to see that. Though given the series seems to be the front end of his adult life rather than the back end that the games focus on I'm not set on that he must look like Witcher 3 Geralt.

I too was expecting him to look a little more weathered.

That said, I don't have any complaints and am looking forward to a full trailer.

The books take place long before the first game. We have absolutely no idea what young(er) Geralt was supposed to look like... The games are not a real guide.

I wasn't really expecting him to look exactly like he did in The Witcher 3, so I'm not bothered by Cavill's look. He's definitely recognizeable as Geralt, and that's enough for me.

I think he looks great as Geralt, and let's just wait for more info about the story and his age first before we judge.

I too was expecting him to look a little more weathered.

Same here, although maybe that comes later on through his years and experience. As someone mentioned, he looks too clean, and not to mention a bit too lean. I'd even say he looks like he just stepped out of his makeup trailer.

The games are not a real guide.

They aren't, no. But there's an aweful lot of expectations coming from the fanbase of the games. And it's not like those expectations can be easily dismissed.

Will not stop the internet from freaking out and talking about the show being a certain flop until the day it comes out.

All too true unfortunately:( . LIke I said, I expected a little more weathered (if only because of some of the witcher conditioning sounds a bit rough) but I am very much looking forward to this.

I haven't got through all the books yet (or even much of the first and second game), but I did manage to see some of the older show so I'm interested to see how this goes.

I'm liking what I'm seeing there. Have they been filming long enough to get a trailer at SDCC?
