A Terran Cerritos with Sov nacelles...

...and a Sov Cerritos with Cali nacelles (and no front transporter emitters)

Just had a chance to watch the episode. While I liked the idea of the 'multiple BoP sizes,' I don't believe there was any indication, in dialogue or on a display, that the larger BoP was supposed to be a K'Vort and the smaller ones were B'rels. As for the larger one, the differences seemed to be double-hulled wings, a front section reminiscent of the D5 from ENT, and some superstructure on top of the ship.

You mean Converging Bi-Plane Wings.

It's definitely one of my favorite Kit-Bashes that I've seen.

Also, something tech-wise that has always annoyed me about LDS is their consistent attitude that the Cerritos and the California class in general are considered old, obsolete, and looked down upon by Starfleet. The design of the ship, both interior and exterior, seems to negate this idea. Based on multiple factors, the Calis seem to be no older than ships produced during the middle of TNG. I could understand if they opted for the ship to be from the TMP era or something, but I just don't really buy the whole idea they've been pushing about the class's 'lower-class' status.

For them, it's the "Post Nemesis" era within StarFleet culture; so the Cali-class seems to have been designed during the TNG-era, where they were at a all time high in terms of optimism & arrogancce of their safey.

Since then, the Borg have attacked Earth 2x, there was the Dominion War. LOTS of StarFleet lives were lost since then.

StarShip design is going the Post-Nemesis / Anti-Borg Fleet route where everything is more "Combat Oriented" & "Tougher".

The Cali-class is a reminder of simpler / more naive times that will eventually be put out to pasture.

It's a reminder of StarFleet's arrogant "Golden Years" and how they shouldn't make the same mistakes again.

To be so "Un-Prepared" for a dangerous Universe.

I can picture the additional wings being added after Klingon engineers discovered a flaw when enlarging the B'rel design. It needed the extra structural support to efficiently move through the different flight modes.

Or someshit like that. :p

I am curious if that larger BOP actually has multiple flight modes with wing positioning. I don’t think we ever saw them move the entire time. In any case, I love the design and would love to see more of it one day.

The Terran Cali looks like it could wipe out all of Starfleet single-handedly.

Although I am curious about their choice of “Freedom” class for the single-nacelle variant. The original Freedom class seen at Wolf 359, ostensibly a contemporary of the Cali line, was a lot more Galaxy-looking.
