The story ultimately turned out to be a mess, but - damn - did it start out extremely well or what?
(And not because Kes is in a set re-use of a small ship cockpit that was used at least twice in previous reasons; seeing her pull this stunt is indeed worthy of a sweeps-week event.)
Also, note to self: When eating beans, don't light a match back there afterward.
But, messes aside, the Vidiian threat remained compelling:
(Look closely and you'll see some folk doin' the Macarena, at warp speed, while eatin' macaroni)
But making Kes out as a villain when she wasn't, and then the gimmicks to turn that around (from what I recall) -- as usual for latter-era Trek, it might have been more interesting if Kes was genuinely a baddie. Then again, it's latter-era Trek. There's always a new way to make a reset button.
