Spoilers The Flash - Season 2

That was a good premiere.
Atom Smasher was a pretty cool villain, and he gave us a nice mysterious set up for Zoom at the end.
I was really shocked by Ronnie's fate. I am curious to see how
the new Firestorm is going to be introduced. Is he just going to be an alternate version, like Jay is to Barry?
It was nice to see Henry freed, but I am disappointed to see him leave. Before he said he was going to leave I was thinking it would be a lot of fun to see him getting him playing a bigger role in the stories.
I was disappointed they split up the team and had Barry working alone, but luckily that didn't last long.
That was a nice little cliffhanger at the end with Jay Garrick.

Yeah, Jay Garrick was cool. I can't wait to see him and Barry in action together, although I bet they'll save it for mid or end of season.

I don't know about that, they've actually been pretty good about not dragging things out to long so far.

You might be right. I guess I'm just conditioned to expect all the really good stuff to happen at the end of the season, even though Season 1 of Flash didn't have that problem. I blame Arrow for giving me that attitude :rommie: Either way, I think seeing the two Flashes together will be amazing, and something i never thought I'd get to see in live action.

Arrow's been pretty good at moving things along as well. Both shows have. And with this season's focus on speedsters, I don't expect them to drag out the good stuff.

By the way, the actor who plays Jay Garrick kind of looks like Martin Donovan.

Well, I don't remember much good stuff in Season 3 of Arrow outside of the big League of assassins fight at the end, but Flash Season 1 did do a good job of having cool stuff spread out through the season. Heck, we got a super intelligent gorilla, and it wasn't even an end of season thing. So, yeah, I'm probably worrying for nothing. If there is any superhero I have faith in being consistently good, its The Flash.

Except for Iris, which almost ruined the character. ;)

Pretty good premiere. I'm glad they showed what happened with the Singularity and not do what some other season premieres would do and just jump forward 3 months. The character emotional moments are still there and that was great to see. Looking forward to this Jay Garrick character and I liked Edge as Atom Smasher. Hopefully Wells does come back somehow. I guess they are going to leave the timeline as is, which I wish they would explain the paradox caused by Thawn's erasure.

I've been kind of expecting them to bring the real Wells back, which could be interesting now that he's wanted for murder.

To The Flash Cave Caitlin! :p

This EP was okay. Something felt off. I like the big deal about the security of S.T.A.R Labs and Jay just trolls up in there. I do hope they can explain the Thawne paradox.

ETA: For some reason because I am not familiar with a lot of characters, I keep confusing Atom Smasher with The Persuader, I'm like where is his axe!?!? :alienblush:

i kinda hate that Atom Smasher was not only killed off but served as a bad guy. i guess its kinda sorta ok since he was from another reality. but not really. not with the 'real' Al getting killed too. why did he kill 'himself'?

Don't look.

The Supergirl pilot.

Zoom is all about alternate Earths and time travel.

We saw two Al Rothstiens this episode, so maybe that means that there are possibly another 50 of them in play.

The special effect may have been so expensive that Al had to be killed off?

I wouldn't think so. I remember seeing a behind the scenes clip, and the effect consisted of Power Rangers style forced perspective and a giant foam green screen suit that's already been bought and paid for.

Dead doesn't always mean dead in this stuff. Al might be back after Professor Fallout or Manfred Mota shows up and lights his fire.

This was really good. Some very effective emotional moments. Ronnie's sacrifice, even though I knew from the spoilers that it was probably coming soon, was still very powerful. Wells confessing to free Henry, by contrast, was totally unexpected, an amazing moment.

Stein was great here, and it's good that we're getting to know him better as we build toward his spinoff. I love how pleased he was to coin one of the bad-guy names, and Cisco's reaction was great too.

The CGI on Atom Smasher wasn't great, but it was intriguing the way they changed his proportions when he grew, altered the shape of his legs in a way that, presumably, was better designed for supporting a larger mass. A subtle bit that was very well thought out.

My one disappointment was that they couldn't get Amanda Pays to appear along with Shipp and D'Ambrosio. I get the sense that the story was set up to allow for her to appear if her schedule had permitted, since we had a scene at Mercury Labs and Tina was mentioned. I guess they just couldn't make it happen this time.

I don't think I know who that is. He reminds me a bit of Kevin Sorbo. And doesn't look a thing like how I would've imagined Jay Garrick in live action.

I'd just as soon they glossed it over and forgot about it. There's no way to make sense of it, and trying to explain it would probably just make it sillier.

not with the 'real' Al getting killed too. why did he kill 'himself'?

My first thought was that it was so he could take over his double's life and blend in. Although if that were the case, he should've hidden or destroyed the body rather than leaving it lying there for the cops to find.

There was an article in USA Today where Andrew Kreisberg mentioned we will see the counterparts of familiar on Earth 2. I don't mean just in that Jay Garrick is another Flash. But it was specifically mentioned that there is another Barry Allen there too. Who is not the Flash. Which is interesting because the comics never explored Earth 2 in that way.

Grant Gustin is also quoted about how Barry will have to except that if he sees another Dr Wells there he is not the man he knew.

I don't expect Thawnes confession to stand. Wells is not doubt alive, married and has a good alibi for the day in question. Or..
He gets arrested, breaks out and using his super science finds a way to recreate the Thawne we know and love.

We're also getting
Wally West and Jessie Quick with Zoom as the big bad, so there is a chance we could get a scene with five speedsters all together

I forgot about that, seeing all of them together would be cool. That's assuming that Wally gets speed powers this season, but either way I'm sure the show will have some epic moments with the speedsters throughout the season

The wormhole was the result of the Thawn paradox, right?
So destroying the wormhole kinda broke causality.
Like cutting a fuse of a bomb, so the butterfly effect Couleur mit ripple forward in time.
RF got only erased because he was the causal nexus himself.

Good season opener. Pretty much everything had already been said.
