The European Football Season 15/16

I'd like to take a moment and applaud Allegri and his team for losing the first two games of the season. Something no Juve squad has ever managed to do since the club was founded in 1897.

That's what happens when you lose Pirlo, Tevez, Vidal, Llorente (three of those for free) and replace them with mostly young players.

Oh, and when you play Padoin in the regista position... wth Max?!

Oh, and to the Germans here: Does Khedira ever play 5 consecutive matches without being injured?

Keeping track of Khedira's injuries and his on-off love life with model Lena G. is a full-time job. I'm not up to date as to neither of them.....

Yeah Man Utd can really charge the earth for him now. Football is quite ridiculous sometimes!

Everton 3 - 1 Chelsea

Three defeats from the five opening games for Mourinho. They really do look shocking.

Espanyol 0 - 6 Real Madrid

Five goals for Ronaldo! This makes him Madrid's all time scorer in the league (230). He only needs five more to become their all time record scorer in all competitions (overtaking the overrated Raul). Looks like this could be a good season for breaking goal scoring records.

Rooney needs 17 to break the United record.

A good win for United though.

Man United 3 - 1 Liverpool

And a nice debut goal for Martial (£36 million is a bargain huh?) and Schweinsteiger finally played the full 90 minutes. Benteke's overhead kick was pretty special too.

Champions League starts again tonight. A draw would be acceptable for United (especially since Rooney is out). City against Juve should be good (but no Aguero). How many will Ronaldo score?

Decent night after all. Juve won, both English teams lost and what was up with all those penalties for Sevilla?

Why would you want the English teams to lose?

I'm not sure what it is but I enjoy seeing English teams lose, that includes the national team. The fact that English teams currently have a fuckload of money makes it more amusing I suppose.
I think the only English team I still kind of like is Manchester United because Juve and ManU have a lot of respect for each other. But that dates way back to when Sir Alex was still there (and Gary Neville had a hilarious reaction when faced with the possibility of playing Juve).

So meh... van Gaal...
Football animosities, what can you do? ;)
I'm not much of an anglophile but I certainly don't dislike the UK in general. It's just a footie thing and mostly confined to the EPL top teams. I also enjoy seeing Bayern and Inter lose so there's that.

I think Neville's reaction was based on knowing that the referee for the match might be receiving a new collection of Italian sports cars in the coming months.

Considering that he wanted to play his testimonial match against Juventus I suppose that's not true but I guess it makes for a convenient opportunity for an incredibly pathetic joke.

Never change, hux. ;)

Both Sir Alex and Neville have stated that playing Juve in the 90s was a pain in the ass because they had that incredible will to win. Juve didn't miss a single Champions League match-day for almost 4 years. 3 finals and a semi-final (against ManU I think?).

So yeah, I respect ManU a lot. I just don't like van Gaal. :p
