The European Football Season 15/16

I can't quote anyone and I can't add smilies.......f***

@ hux

I haven't heard Schweinsteiger's English yet. But you can have fun with Lothar Matthäus on the internet (especially Youtube): Loddar speaks mal wieder English....

At least Matthäus can speak English.

Steve McLaren can't speak Dutch so just spoke English with a Dutch accent.

I always think that was a touch unfair, people often pick up an accent in another country (see Jan Molby who sounds more Liverpudlian than most people born in Liverpool! :) )

But he didn't pick up an accent. There's no such thing as a Dutch accent if you're English and can only speak English. He did an impression of someone Dutch speaking English because he mistakenly believed it would help the Dutch to understand him. It's like meeting someone Chinese and speaking "rike riss" in the hope that they'll grasp what you mean.

Whereas Jan Molby actually did pick up a genuine accent over the years.

There's another clip of Joey Barton speaking to the French media where he speaks "like ziss".

Bundesliga has begun.... Matchday 1

Bayern vs Hamburg 5:0
Dortmund vs M'Gladbach 4:0
Werder Bremen vs Schalke 0:3
...

among others

Man United 3 - 1 Club Brugge

Depay -------------- Carrick OG
Depay
Fellaini

That should be enough to see United through to the Champions League proper. Depay starting to justify his transfer fee. Rooney still looks off the pace.

Really glad I stuck Depay in my fantasy team, he was ridiculously cheap for how good he potentially was

Surprised at that, I don't understand what Utd were fannying about at. Have Chelsea signed him because they want him, or just to keep him out of Man U's hands though?

Last weekend Bayern was on the brink of losing against Hoffenheim. They turned the match and won 2:1 (in Hoffenheim) with 10 men.

Saturday 22nd
Man United 0 - 0 Newcastle United
Crystal Palace 2 - 1 Aston Villa
Leicester 1 - 1 Tottenham
Norwich 1 - 1 Stoke
Sunderland 1 - 1 Swansea
West Ham 3 - 4 Bournemouth

Sunday 23rd
West Brom 2 - 3 Chelsea
Everton 0 - 2 Man. City
Watford 0 - 0 Southampton

Monday 24th
Arsenal 0 - 0 Liverpool

Pedro scores on his debut. Terry sent off because he's old and slow. City looking good. Most teams still feeling their way.

I'll be surprised if Man Utd don't bring in another striker of some description before the end of the transfer window.

I think United will be very happy with that. City have the hardest group and haven't done well in the competition in previous years anyway. Every team in group C will be happy.

Group F with Arsenal and Bayern as favorites.....

I'm curious if there will be any surprises.....

Lionel Messi player of the year. Congratulations!!!!!

Oh, there is a betting game for Bundesliga on the German publisher of Star Trek novels, Cross Cult. This will be fun. I will be wide off the mark with bets.....;)

Newcastle 0 - 1 Arsenal
Aston Villa 2 - 2 Sunderland
Bournemouth 1 - 1 Leicester
Chelsea 1 - 2 Crystal Palace
Liverpool 0 - 3 West Ham
Man City 2 - 0 Watford
Stoke 0 - 1 West Brom

Chelsea lose at home to Crystal Palace?! Mourinho out!! He looked so angry

Liverpool had a bad day too. A lot of red cards today weirdly.

I'm currently watching the match of the day -Bundesliga: FC Bayern vs Bayer Leverkusen via Live Ticker.

In the aforementioned betting game I had only one match where I was able to bet the winner. I got 2 points for it. I knew I would be off the mark. But only one match with the correct winner? Not to mention the result.... 3 matches yet to come!

Bayern won 3:0 against Leverkusen.

And it was, I guess for all the wrong reasons in some instances though. Chelsea buy two central defenders, but I doubt either will excite Chelski fans, and one's already been loaned back to his club. I can't believe Chelsea have 30+ players out on loan at the moment, puts me in mind of Blackburn in the mid 90s who just signed players so no one else could.

Man Utd spend silly money for an unproven teenager, and they and/or Real cock up the De Gea sale, which doesn't do anyone any good. Similarly WBA's refusal to sell Berahino and Spurs desire to get him on the cheap leaves both clubs and the player no better off.

Arsenal don't sign anyway. That's hardly a surprise.

It is still early days but at the moment it looks like the title is City's to lose. And increasingly both Van Gaal and Mourinho are starting to look like they're losing the plot.

Big news for Derby was us signing two midfielders for a combined £10million! We seem to be going crazy at the moment and odd as it is to say it feels a little unsettling.
